To me, that looks like a panel filter + pipe combo, that uses the stock airbox.Anyone had any experience of the aFe Takeda Super Stock? It seems to very similar increases to the GR Performance intake, with less installation hassles and seems cheaper.
Dyno graph looks similar as well, perhaps less torque gain between 3 and 4k

Overall how do you rate the TRD intake @Sonic ?Same as above said ...
The aFE seems to just 'delete' the resonator chamber, which (I'm informed) might cause response/jerkiness issues. In the same vein, I have the official TRD intake and I sometimes 'feel' that the engine doesn't respond as smooth as it did prior to installation. However, that could be a placebo effect from reading too many reviews and totally b0ll0cks information on the internet making me paranoid...![]()
I bought the intake purely for cosmetic reasons and the fact that it's an official Toyota part, so there would be no warranty 'issues' if the car was to end up at the dealership for some other reason and they saw it under the bonnet. Any performance improvement noted from the dyno tests online are just an added bonus for me - I don't notice anything tbh and certainly can't hear any louder induction sound.Overall how do you rate the TRD intake @Sonic ?
Can I ask where you bought it from?
Toyota Direct Parts are showing it on back order, but it’s showing in stock from Teqsport in the USA, who I think would ship to the JK.

I bought mine from 86Speed in the US. At the time it was $550 (it's now on 'sale' at $502), plus $151.50 for priority shipping. Fedex and UK Customs stung me for £117.31 at the border (others have paid less). All in a total of £664.22 compared to the local Toyota Dealer who quoted me £1,038.
No I haven’t as I don’t believe there’s any need. It’s an official Toyota supplied part and it’s available in the UK from dealers.Hello Sonic,
Have you checked the warranty aspect on this part with the dealer? I was wondering Toyota UKs stance, and if you’ve already asked.
Thank you
I wouldnt chance it tbh.No I haven’t as I don’t believe there’s any need. It’s an official Toyota supplied part and it’s available in the UK from dealers.
Fancy having a go at this myself. Can you share the link to the 3D file?GR Cup Car Intake
In the quest for developing an enjoyable car beyond it's standard configuration an intake was always of interest, the Infinity Design and Eventuri carbon intake systems look particularly tasty, however they are rather pricey. Not only that but it's pretty negligible in terms of a performance boost, the sound is perhaps more appealing because the character of the car shifts to something more befitting a Japanese rear driven sports coupé.
The cost of the above had meant I was in zero rush to install any intake system, however, my friend bought a 3D printer and found a free file online for the GR86 cup car snorkel. He wanted to experiment and get to grips with the machine and ordered some heat tolerant filament which seemed prudent. After a few initial teething problems managed a perfect printWe had to wrap a bit of double sided foam tape as the fit was somewhat lose without according to user feedback online..
We set about removing the bumper after a morning spent changing the brake discs (first foray, actually had fun!) the impression given by the standard intake snorkel is of restriction with a narrow opening with a longer run.

Ill be honest, I had zero expectation going into this, being so far forward I wasn't even expecting much noise difference and from what I vaguely remember it was nothing to write home about in terms of gains according to the community tests.
So headed out to see whata gwan, if anything... I'm aware of placebo being a factor of course but I noticed a notable reduction in lethargy in the lower rev range, it was evident in 2nd which I found offered more get up and go. The top end also seemed to benefit with what felt like an uplift of urgency. Honestly I was surprised by this, pleasantly so.
As you work through the rev range induction bark takes over from the exhaust making the car feel more aggressive and special with a dose of additional character. Bloody happy days, for the cost of some filament, defo recommend anyone in possession of a 3D printer to give it a go!

It'sa great mod, adds an intake growl even without changing the air filter to non OE style performance filters.GR Cup Car Intake
