GR86 Best induction kit for airflow?

Anyone had any experience of the aFe Takeda Super Stock? It seems to very similar increases to the GR Performance intake, with less installation hassles and seems cheaper.
Dyno graph looks similar as well, perhaps less torque gain between 3 and 4k

Same as above said ... ☝️

The aFE seems to just 'delete' the resonator chamber, which (I'm informed) might cause response/jerkiness issues. In the same vein, I have the official TRD intake and I sometimes 'feel' that the engine doesn't respond as smooth as it did prior to installation. However, that could be a placebo effect from reading too many reviews and totally b0ll0cks information on the internet making me paranoid... 😬

Overall how do you rate the TRD intake @Sonic ?
Can I ask where you bought it from?
Toyota Direct Parts are showing it on back order, but it’s showing in stock from Teqsport in the USA, who I think would ship to the JK.

I bought the intake purely for cosmetic reasons and the fact that it's an official Toyota part, so there would be no warranty 'issues' if the car was to end up at the dealership for some other reason and they saw it under the bonnet. Any performance improvement noted from the dyno tests online are just an added bonus for me - I don't notice anything tbh and certainly can't hear any louder induction sound.
I bought mine from 86Speed in the US. At the time it was $550 (it's now on 'sale' at $502), plus $151.50 for priority shipping. Fedex and UK Customs stung me for £117.31 at the border (others have paid less). All in a total of £664.22 compared to the local Toyota Dealer who quoted me £1,038.

Hello Sonic,

Have you checked the warranty aspect on this part with the dealer? I was wondering Toyota UKs stance, and if you’ve already asked.

Thank you

No I haven’t as I don’t believe there’s any need. It’s an official Toyota supplied part and it’s available in the UK from dealers.

Thanks to @Sonic directing me to 86 speed, noticed they had a tasty V2 MST induction kit - this looks to minimise some issues with heat with the enclosure, but you also still get to look at the induction cone through the little window - although looks to be a bumper out install.

Finally a day without rain so managed to install just before the drizzle started again.

IMHO I think the GR induction kit is a good compromise, I was disappointed there is no big whoosh sound like the KN induction kit, but if you are at standstill and rev the engine you can hear the induction woosh, but on the go the can't hear it like the KN because of the engine noise.
The butt dyno says it gives me a few more ponies and better throttle response - I didn't unplug the battery to reset the ecu so time will tell.
It surely must be right? The air filter is 3 times the size of the stock one!
The GR is better made then the KN too.
Top tip - get some silicon spray to help you seat the rubber hose.

I think if you want the big induction noise, I'd still go with the KN, but if you don't want to lose a few HP and want your engine bay to look like it has a supercharger then go OEM GR.

I have swapped from the K&N induction kit to the GR kit as well. I prefer the GR one too. I think it makes the car easier to drive in normal traffic. I feel there is less, or perhaps none at all, of the throttle jerkiness in first gear at junctions.
