GR Yaris The EcuTek thread

Syvecs is not essential but will get every last bit out of it. ECU TEC is very good now.

You will see 360-375 bhp but that depends on the cams. EZ cams do add some power up top, maybe 20bhp but it’s all up top and little to no gain lower down. A cams can be used with ECU TEC but not all tuners can manage it. More power up top and you must run valve springs, you can expect to loose some low end torque.

Maxing out the stock turbo you’ll want a good intercooler and some slightly larger boost pipes. Nothing to excessive though.

Weldspeed intake manifold worked well for me

Eventuri is the only proven intake to have any real gains. That’s across multiple sources.

With what you like you want I think you enjoy the mid range hit. It’s easy to loose that with a lot of modifications. Try not to focus on the bhp but the torque profile and how the power is delivered.

You would not go far wrong with what I have

Eventuri intake
DO88 turbo inlet
HKS 2” boost pipes
Litchfield intercooler
Weldspeed intake manifold
HJS sports cat
Whifbits titanium gpf delete
Whifbitz titanium exhaust
Turbo smart plumb back BOV
Litchfield ECU TEC custom remap. This was originally done on the dyno and then refined with a road tune to achieve the power delivery I was looking for.

I really like minimal lag, response and that mid range pull. The advice was to leave the standard cams.

That’s me about done. Anything else is really going to take from one area to give to another and in my case taking it from where I want to maximise it.

What would I do in the future? Tricky…..heat management. Bonnet, wrap the exhaust, turbo blanket……snake oil….I don’t know if they are

Does anyone map a gen 2 with ecutek yet ?
Looking for numbers with eventuri hjs downpipe and milltek res

This Aussie tuner has done gen 2 GRY. I don't think the results will vary significantly between gen 1 and 2 for manual cars.

Yes but you have more mods right? Do you have some numbers or dyno graphics?

I have:
Whifbitz resonated GPF delete
Whifbitz resonated backbox
Eventuri
Airtec inlet manifold
Airtec oil cooler
Airtec gearbox cooler
Airtec cooling pack replacement rad
Airtec turbo elbow
Airtec turbo pipe
Airtec diff cooler
Airtec intercooler

What were the results? Engine wise similar to mine but different brands. Mine a gen 1

Worth noting that mine was the first to get a tune. We were also playing it safe and there was a torque limitation with the gearbox which appears to now have been solved. I’m holding off updating as there’s a lot more to be had but I got the ball rolling for people. With HJS releasing the sports cat for gen 2 now I’ll probably fit that in the new year and the remap.

If I was to update the tune and jump on the dyno today I’d expect at least 30bhp from what I’ve seen possibly more. I also have yet to tune it on flexfuel which is fitted but only tested.

Currently 323bhp at the wheels.

(Slight blip at 3,500rpm is the dyno I’m told)

The auto gearbox likely saps a bit more power than the manual.

Looks like it’s 323 at the crank with about a 18% loss for the transmission etc. Similar to a gen 1. The initial torque will make it really responsive but it may feel like it really tails off after 4500. As you said, first car to be tuned and I think you will find a lot more from it. Good to hear the Eventuri is not just expensive and pretty. If you could get a broader torque curve with the refined map that would be spot on.

With similar parts to mine I would think you would be 360-365 at the crank with the HJS and a map which has benefitted from greater development time. 😎👍

Do any of you guys collect real world data to go with the Dyno numbers e.g. 3rd gear 50-130kph, 100-200, 1/4 mile etc ? It would be good to translate what ECUTEK tuned cars can produce with respect to performance metrics.
