GR Yaris The EcuTek thread

I’ve removed all engine covers. I’m hoping Toyota release the bonnet soon.
The actual single OEM unpainted top bonnet skin (without all of the underneath insulation and fittings) is relatively cheap from Toyota.

I know a few people that bought this part, fitted vents to it and simply bolted it on. Cost of the part is around AUD$500/GBP 250.

I pulled the trigger on Litchfield remote tuning, and currently on the 3rd revision. The first base map felt slightly unrefined, but the revisions after have been amazing.

Got the map order switched, so it starts up in stock tune. Apparently a future version of ECUTEK software will allow the car to remember the last selected map, so I'll just manually switch every time until that's available.

I've previously had both a DTUK V2 and the JB4 and had issues with both and ended up not using either of them after a while. This feels more natural for the car, and much, much quicker.

I can confidently say that this is enough power, I don't see myself ever wanting more for road use with how fast it gets up to crazy speeds now.
It LAUNCHES out of the corners, absolutely hilarious to drive!

I cross my fingers that the power will be more consistent now than it has been stock, because the way it sometimes has been noticeably weaker for no apparent reason has annoyed me a lot. The mods I have done did certainly improve it, but it still had days where it didn't feel as sharp as it should.

nice to hear its working well. can you get through torque limiters with Ecutec or are they still there with stock ecu?

I agree, i have 2 stock GR's one almost always feels rapid and plenty quick enough for the road.
The other one sometimes feels similarly rapid and sometimes and lazy/sluggish (like the turbo stopped working) other times.
For no apparent reason.

I don't know if there are still some torque limitations, but I definitely have more torque. The logs say 400-410nm, no idea how accurate that is, but the butt dyno is impressed. I wouldn't want any more in the name of mechanical sympathy 😅. It pulls a lot harder than it did with the tuning boxes.

So far, over the past week of testing this, it has felt just as good every pull. Not that I have had time to drive a huge amount yet, so time will have to tell.

The map doesn't add very much at the bottom, but from 3000rpm you feel quite the difference, and from 3500 its very strong.

Nice to hear about Users with both DTUKV2 and Ecutek. I have the DTE Systems RX which is similar to the DTUKV2 and also get mixed results. While down low the power is quite good and repeatable with following times:
0-60mph in 4,24s
0-100kmh in 4,52s
50-100kmh in 2,83s
50-130kmh in 5,52s
80-120kmh in 2,63s

The upper speeds are not repeatable at all. Some of the below times fluctuate quite a lot. As mentioned the ECU is pullung timing and / or boost.
60-160kmh in 8,51s
100-160kmh in 5,97s
100-200kmh in 12,50s

If that is solved with Ecutek i might consider it as a final touch up to after finishing the power mods on the car (FMIC and sports CAT missing).

Mods: Eventuri with Forge Inlet FMTIA8, stock CAT, full exhaust, no rear seats and 2x Recaro Podiums.

Me too. Most carbon ones are a bit poor with fit and finish. It’s certainly going to be a must do. Really when you look at the car it has very little fresh airflow into the engine bay other than through the radiator and intercooler

And they’re all heavier than the OEM aluminium bonnet.

I'd fit vents for cooling but I've yet to see vents that don't look either OTT,totally ugly and out of place or just plain cheap sh#t
The other problem for me is the bonnet is double skinned in most places, make cutting more complicated.

The Scara one weighs only 3.4 kg (7.4 lbs) and the fit is pretty good.
That would be the one. His stuff never has any prices though. I would expect it’s a good €3000 or more. Anyone know

Where are you Powerwise now?

I have not had it dynoed, as this is done with remote tuning, but Litchfield estimated around 330 with my mods. I don't know how accurate that is, so take it with a grain of salt.

My power mods:
Airtec intercooler
MST intake
HJS Sports cat
Milltek unresonated GPF-back exhaust

About right. Mine was 324 with their map. Gpf back exhaust and forge intake system. Since then with the eventuri, gpf delete, inter cooler and weld speed manifold 353 with peak torque of 427nm at 4200. On their dyno at 18 degrees. Since then I also put the HJS on. I want more low down so eventually I’ll go for syvecs

I have mine booked in with Litchfield in early October, will be having EZ cams, valve springs, HJS sports cat, lamspeed baffled sump kit fitted, DO88 IC is already fitted.
Hopefully around the 350-360hp mark according to them

Should be easily. 353 without the cams or Hjs. Seen one make 375 with what you have
