GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

Nooooooooooo.

There's still time to buy a used one!
Hopefully there will still be time in around a year! For now I will switch to a cheap daily (probably my 3rd Honda Civic mk9  ), though I had a brief look for older JDM cars...

What would zoo members do? Would you daily any other JDM cars?

Ran mine to the grey area of ‘no miles’ left just by the petrol station

Still on 1 bar on the RHS and the 43L of fuel makes me think it has a 45L tank so I shouldn’t be so worried but still grateful that I didn’t have to do the Gerry can walk of shame :ROFLMAO:
I once filled up with 45 litres after driving 10 miles past zero.

In theory, I could be driving another 30-40 miles beyond zero.

I think what makes a suitable daily is quite personal to the user. I haven't used my own car as a daily for quite some time. Travelling to work is done in a work van. family trips are done in our family (my wife's) car and the GR86 is for everything else. for this purpose it's just about practical enough.

If I find myself no-longer supplied with a company vehicle, my brief for a daily would probably be an estate car with a tow-bar on it. Again, this would change, depending on whether I was using it for work or not. My driveway is big enough for 3 vehicles quite comfortably, so if I had to provide my own daily vehicle, this would free up the 86's brief of having to be somewhat practical and there's a chance that I would swap the 86 for something more raw like a Caterham. Although I'm still quite smitten with the 86, so can't see that set of circumstances happening any time soon.

I guess the main deciding factor for what makes a suitable daily is how much time / how many miles you do in it, and what type of roads you're driving on. If I had to drive in stop start city traffic every day, I'd probably get an EV. lots of motorway miles, a comfy Diesel, shorter A/B road trips, a petrol more focussed on fun driving.

Another key deciding factor these days is the cars ADAS systems and how persistently it would goad me into boring a screwdriver into my temple.

I would daily other jdm cars but the car will depend on its use. I for example (recently found a job after being made redundant) need something semi cheap that I can drive short distances, drop without care, takes a baby and most importantly would hate to use for any journeys outside my town, likely an Aygo, Jazz, Fit, Yaris,

Welp, here's another who's just sold up today  My first brand-new car, and what a car it's been! So happy I took the plunge two years ago.

Hard to let this one go. I have a feeling that it may have went to the same dealer that took @kacpr 's car too. But I never intended to keep it long term, it was more of an opportunity to experience buying and owning brand new sports car. Which I have thoroughly enjoyed.

The GR is so good in fact the only thing that I could have replaced it with was my literal dream car. And then the opportunity came up...

Have enjoyed the forum here too - I attended Japfest 2024 with you guys which was a fantastic turnout.

But now on to newer (sorry, older, and way more expensive and unreliable) things!

Interested how your anti leaf test goes. I have never had another car that catches so much vegetation without have been through it! Here is my battle…. This is one weeks collection:

On a serious note, to those that have the deflector do you get detritus stuck in the top edge between the plastic and glass?
I’ve had my aero cover on since I bought the car and I’ve never seen anything similar to that, nor have I even had to clean that part outside of a deep clean.

That being said I don’t park underneath a tree of anything like that. So it might be a specific issue for you.

Suede A-pillar trim installed this morning.

Installation a little tricky, but after getting it lined up and then stretching it as I stuck it down, I got everything visible covered. The pieces are slightly oversized, so I managed to wrap all the edges. So if the trim still creaks on cold mornings, I'm going to scream.

But it looks good :D

My TRD Aero Leaf Deflector arrived 😁
Carefully fitted it earlier this evening, fairly easy job, just clean the glass well and take your time, and don't remove all the tape backing at once!...

I'm really pleased with how it looks, and it will get an anti leaf test tomorrow... My neighbour is a TVR nut and commented that it looked factory fit which is good enough for me 😁

Looks like an excellent job and I in no way wish to cast any aspersions about the quality of the work (which I am sure is faultless), but a TVR owner/enthusiast's notion of "factory fit" might well differ from others!

Like Andrew Tate's views on healthy relationships, or Jeffrey Epstein's on safeguarding

Bought myself a full set of Tyredox for when the 86 goes into storage. Not cheap, but my goodness they have some heft (weigh in at 7.3Kg each) - nearly popped another disc when the DPD man handed the box over! 😫

Look like a quality product but my they are expensive for what they are.
I’m just going to continue overinflating my tyres. 😂

Intend doing the same here once it’s on the ‘dox’. Car will be static for 6 months, so I was thinking 40psi should do it with the 225 Asy6 tyres? What do you plump them up to?

I normally do around 45psi. Think the max on the tyres is 50 psi. It’s on the sidewall what is allowable.
