GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

Evening, I think I have a rare illness as yet unidentified but I'm sure very common.... Symptoms take hold after attending car shows and manifest themselves as browsing fensport website and spending money....

I must have really succumbed to it and now have the TRD Aero stabiliser coming tomorrow (to try to keep bloody leaves and crap out of the boot) and a Cusco carbon strut brace with brace cylinder thingy on order.... But I do suspect the strut brace order is caused by another disease known as 'strut brace envy'...

When's pay day again????....

I had been kicking myself that circumstances seem to keep conspiring against me to get along to various meets and events. I’m now questioning my disappointment if attendance results in standing around with a group of men and coming home to order something blue to firm things up. 🤣

I had no idea it was on, but I passed by Brands on my morning drive today! Ended up behind a convoy of Jap stuff coming up the A20 and then had to wait as they turned in to the rear entrance, so I snapped some pics.

The only GRs I saw were the Supra, and a Yaris being trailered, so guess it might have been competition spec. Thinking about it, perhaps I should have gone in, but I don't really do many car shows, didn't know if you needed a ticket or what. So just continued home for breakfast.

There was a photographer on the A20 taking photos (getapic.co.uk) and he snapped one of me, so might take a look later. Cleaned my car yesterday so maybe he got a shot worth paying for :D

The FD really is a timeless looking car. Between the engine being fickle and horror stories of how brittle trim and interior parts are they strike me as the Alfa Romeo of Japan. Gorgeous but quite luckily to be an unreliable money pit.

At brands hatch today for the GO Japan event and in good company with plenty of GT86’s. Haven’t seen another GR86 yet but there must be another one here somewhere.
Just FYI, the pictures they took coming up the A20 are on getapic.co.uk now. I saw your car on there. There's 3 shots of my car, so I bought one....better than any picture I could ever take, and the first rolling shot of my own car :)

Driven with a steely-eyed, iron-jawed determination I see. Excellent photo might buy one myself

Purposefully chose this pic because of the three, this one was at an angle which hid more of my ugly mug.
I'm just glad they caught me looking somewhat normal, and not subconsciously pulling a silly face like I normally do when driving (tongue out concentrating // bottom teeth jutting over top lip // picking my nose)

Ran mine to the grey area of ‘no miles’ left just by the petrol station

Still on 1 bar on the RHS and the 43L of fuel makes me think it has a 45L tank so I shouldn’t be so worried but still grateful that I didn’t have to do the Gerry can walk of shame :ROFLMAO:

I think it's a 50l tank like the previous model, but it has a big reserve....the light comes on with still about 10 litres left.

My TRD Aero Leaf Deflector arrived 😁
Carefully fitted it earlier this evening, fairly easy job, just clean the glass well and take your time, and don't remove all the tape backing at once!...

I'm really pleased with how it looks, and it will get an anti leaf test tomorrow... My neighbour is a TVR nut and commented that it looked factory fit which is good enough for me 😁

The light came on with 20 miles left this morning on the way to work. Should have had circa 4 miles left when jumping back in after work but that went down (much faster than normal) to none having not covered 4 miles.

Thanks for sharing the link, some good shots on there in the early morning sun and one with my face almost completely obscured, which is a bonus.

Interested how your anti leaf test goes. I have never had another car that catches so much vegetation without have been through it! Here is my battle…. This is one weeks collection:

On a serious note, to those that have the deflector do you get detritus stuck in the top edge between the plastic and glass?

Also anyone know if the small plastic tabs to the left and right of the boot by the struts can be unbolted, removed and cleaned under ? Or are they just part of something larger and should not be touched?

Stuff always gets in the gaps around them... I clean it out with a soft brush but have been wondering about those panels.....

Yeah they just pop off. No issues in removing those.
