GR Yaris (Gen 2) GR Yaris Mk2 (MY2024->)

Yes, Pirelli P Zero 5

I've always been skeptical about Pirellis because they wear out quickly... so if we compare PZs and SC7s, if they were similar in grip, etc., which one lasts longer?

Hard to say at this point given the PZ5 is so new, and I agree wear is important. The PS4S seem to offer a good performance/wear tradeoff. For me they last 15k or so.

I've tried the Dunlop Sport Maxx RT2 on other cars, I'm undecided whether to try them here too... many speak well of the SC7... so many tires 😂

has anyone with DAT8 mapped the ECU? I've seen some who don't increase the Nm too much to avoid stressing the gearbox, others already aim for 480nm... what approach did you accept?

My car was the development car.

It’s not so much about stressing the gearbox it’s people don’t yet know its limits. There is also a torque restriction that’s still not 100% solved.

For me if the PZ5 is both marginally better than the PS4S and quieter, I'll eat the increased wear as a consequence, especially as they're a chunk cheaper than the PS4S, though the CS7 is cheaper still!

The PS4s are very noisy, I don't know if it's the car's poor soundproofing or the tires, but if the PS5s are quieter, I want them 😂... and are the SC7s quieter? I can't find anyone who talks about them.

Standard fitment on Hyundai i20N, fronts last 4000 miles and increase Ackerman effect so owners fit something else

Brother drives i30n which came with Pirellis, now he switched to PS4s. So far he says that Pirellis definitely felt sharper on turn in, however after putting in few hundreds of km into PS4s they are slowly getting more responsive. I think its usual discussion what is the goal; whether you want compromise in performance but with better durability, or more grip but obviously with more tire wear.

I had an i30N with the PZ4s, didn't love them due to wheel hopping, went to PS4S on that, much more grip, but felt less sporty. Have the PZ5s on my GR now and the PZ5s feel quite different from the PZ4s on the i30N. They are much closer to the PS4Ses, but a bit sharper and quieter.

Seems like a lot changed from PZ4 to PZ5

Can anyone help me with this issue please. Can’t remember making a password. Says it needs password for safetylock.

I see a lot of internal videos where with only intake you can hear the pop-off sound a lot... I barely hear it with the stock airbox and only in certain cases... does an aftermarket airbox amplify the pop-off sound that much? Can anyone with a modified airbox tell me if it's that loud?

I have an eventuri, You can hear it all the time 😆

but much? I mean, have you noticed much of a difference between stock and eventuri? Sometimes the videos seem to have the microphone in the hood 😅… Curious: you have the DAT8. When you change gear, do you hear the pop-off or does it not open at that moment?

Yes, with the Eventuri you can hear the Stututu very well. If you live close to the Swiss border, you could meet up on a pass in Switzerland and hear it live.

Any advice on tire pressures? All tire dealers insist on leaving them at 2.4 (2.5 on the display)... how high do you set them when cold? What does Toyota say?

2.4? Thats insane, as per manual (you can see the pressures also on the door pillar when driver's side door is open) fronts should be at 2.2 and rears at 2.0. In terms of weather changes, when its cold and tires drop below 2 (and trigger the warning) you can use the compressor provided with the tire repair kit to inflate them up. For high temperature scenario I carry small pressure gauge which has mechanism for releasing air, therefore I can set exact pressures I need.
