I was disappointed to see something... in the area I circled there are wires and if you look closely some are taped with electrical tape because they joined some wires... Toyota, why are you doing these horrible and visible things to me? Do you have the same one too?

Same as on mine. I noticed the ECU wiring and thought all those little flashes of red and the first thing I see is they couldn't cover those wires with the cable tidy/conduit!

Anyway, I was thinking the same thing: why not cover all the wires well?!?!, but what I was wondering if you had the same one was: among the "exposed" wires that are visible, do you have any with insulating tape? They look like wires joined and then taped... they look like modifications by some beginner... I wouldn't expect this from a stock electrical system, I would expect it from an electronics beginner...

Regarding the wiring, this is totally normal.
As for the wires: it's sad to see a car like this with exposed wires that look like they're joined together and covered with electrical tape... everyone knows that tape comes unstuck over time and heat... on a production car it's not nice to see an electrical system modified like this "by a beginner"

There should not be any joins in the wiring looms. The only joins should be at the connectors.
What they do use is a tape sometimes called Flashing tape.
Saying that the wiring is pretty ordinary to look at.

Do you have a MK2? Can you post a photo of yours, please? Because in mine, for example, it looks like two wires come in from the nearby connector, they join together, and one comes out and then goes towards the passenger compartment. It's just electrical tape, it lifts off easily... but I haven't looked exactly where the wires are joined because I didn't want to move the wiring too much to avoid damaging it...There should not be any joins in the wiring looms. wiring loom is a bit flimsy looking - could be protected much better.
It could be different... my thought is that it's an "improvised" modification for the automatic transmission one... which perhaps needed additional signals and instead of installing a new electrical system, they modified the existing ones... anyway, I circled the area in my photo attached to the previous post... anyway, another guy has wires with tape similar to mine, I think it's normal now, but why do it so badly?!?!

Yes, the same as mine... in Italy we call it insulating tape... unfortunately, using the translator I don't know the English term... anyway, yes, it's the same as mine... I'll try moving the wires to see if mine makes wire splices or if 2 wires go in and 2 wires come out like yours... so is it normal for there to be tape??? Why put tape (like on your pink and white wires?), why put tape to keep them close together? Instead of making those "joints" there, why didn't they cover the entire group of wires up to the connector? Aesthetically, it would have been nicer.

Because it would have been nicer and tidier... these are cars that have a cost and not a low one, paying attention to the order and cleanliness of the system doesn't harm anyone... especially if 5cm of tape in some connectors is enough... it also helps to prevent dust and water from getting everywhere.

You should look into the Toyota production system (and the Toyota Way too, really interesting) nicer and tidier isn't part of it, everything is there for a reason, in the right amount, at the right time, that's about it. They do everything to reduce every type of waste every step of the way, it's what makes Toyota Toyota.

It's enough for me to know that everything is ok... then evidently as you said, they did it for convenience... thanks for clarifying the matter for me... now let's get to the interesting things: has anyone with DAT8 mapped the ECU? I've seen some who don't increase the Nm too much to avoid stressing the gearbox, others already aim for 480nm... what approach did you accept?edit: the other day I went for a ride in the mountains and hills, I don't know about you but I don't like the 4S... am I the only one who thinks they're soft? I'd like to change them but I'm not sure what tires to use... Advan V107 or something else, there are many opinions out there... I use them on the road and never on the track (for now)... any advice?
