GR Yaris (Gen 2) GR Yaris Mk2 (MY2024->)

I drove with ESE on for about a year, and then about a year with it off. Personally, I prefer it on. Everyone hears things differently, and just like a custom exhaust, ESE may sound appealing to some and not to others.
But if you treat it as an extra input channel that helps you "read" the car better, it can be helpful.

right… but here we are trying to understand if the gen 2 8dat has the ese… it seemed to me that I noticed differences since I deactivated it… but others say there is none… I think I'm crazy… now I'll buy carista and try to reactivate it 😂

I carried out that exercise/change yesterday on my new Gen2 DAT.... the Carista app showed that ESE was active (not that I'd noticed), I then deactivated ESE and it made no difference that I could detect (both in Normal or Sport mode), that would seem to confirm that Gen2 DAT GR Y's don't have ESE😕

I wish someone else would try to disable it in Toyota... I'm seriously thinking I'm crazy reading you... I immediately noticed the pumped sound in the speakers... because it was unrealistic that even going slowly, it would make all that noise... it was exaggerated... with a modified exhaust and disabled ESE, it makes less noise inside 😂 anyway guys, can someone do me a favor? can you tell me the measurement from the ground to the rear wheel arch?
To add to your crazy, I have an automatic, from Italy, and it doesn’t have the option to meddle with interior sound… 🤯 🤌

I see that in Switzerland they are still accepting orders for the Mk2 (they actually hope to keep order books open until 2027), and by 6-8 months they will start delivering the first "slightly-evolved" Mk2s introduced by TGR on last April, with the option to order them with the vertical handbrake.
I'd like to add the vertical handbrake "after market" to my manual Mk2, and I guess it should be feasible through the official Toyota channels, since it's been presented as a part of the official "Aero Package".
Anyone here well introduced in Toyota (I'm thinking about you @Armijs 🙏 for instance) does know anything about applying the vertical handbrake to an existing manual Mk2, and by when should it be possible to order it from Toyota?
Thank you!

In Japan a few owners have retrofitted with OEM parts the handbrake. I reached out to them about the process but got nothing back 😭

There’s a couple of videos on you tube. It’s doable, as is everything if you have the time and money, but there’s a lot more parts needed than you’d realise that’ll quickly add up.

Any link to the videos? Can’t find anything.

It was a video that randomly appeared courtesy of the algorithms one late night. I can’t find it now but it was all in Japanese and the owner was dressed in full GR attire if that helps but if memory serves then I’m pretty sure you need a new handbrake, gaiter, cables, and entire new middle console / gear surround and it’s many yen.

Now that the weather's finally warm again I decided to fill the IC water tank, then left the car in the garage for about an hour and it's empty again . I haven't used the IC spray for about 6 month so I'm thinking an gasket or O-ring in the pump got dry, and since the tank is the highest point in the circuit I think the water just pushes itself out.

I'll try to cycle a few tank actively to try and get the pump back to working order, anyone else encountered this issue? First world problem I know :p

Thank you! And great channel to subscribe to!

It goes quite beyond my skills, so I guess next year I'd go for ordering a new manual Mk2 with vertical handbrake in Switzerland (I moved back there now) if my finances will allow another insane purchase decision by my shameless crazy mind...

Seems quite cheap. I’ll look at ordering 😬
