On Monday we should know how things are panning out and hopefully everyone who made a pre-order will be happy , and I hope everyone else is too👍

Please keep things friendly, unwittingly walking into a ”heated debate” is not the experience we want folks to have and the “heat” isn’t particularly helpful in creating the welcoming and friendly environment the GR-Zoo should be.

One small thing to note is that officially the orders start week commencing 11/04, so if you don’t hear anything Monday, don’t panic!
 
I think the allocation of 2022 cars due in July will sell out fairly quickly, whether that is in a few weeks or a few days who knows.

I do think Toyota will prioritise Europe for the 2023 cars due Oct/Nov ‘22 as they will have to stop selling at the end of ‘23. They will want to mop up every customer who wants one as it will be their last chance to sell. It make business sense to take cars from The US/Asia market if needed as they can pick these customers up ‘24 onwards. Also the semiconductor supply situation will have eased by then too so output will increase.

Pretty sure everyone who wants one will get one, the question is whether to jump on a 2022 car next week or wait to test drive/see colours and see if there is a 2023 special edition model. At the moment I’m leaning towards a 2022 car, but I’ll decide over the weekend.
 
There may not be much point in Toyota creating any special editions of these if demand outweighs supply.

Special editions are normally only there to create a few more sales in an otherwise flat demand.

Whether Toyota UK can get more of an allocation if the demand is higher than originally forecast is another matter entirely.
 
Am getting caught up in the hype and wavering on my 'wait until test drive' decision...

I have a colour dilemma though. Normally Sapphire blue would be a no-brainer for me but I'm not sure about it with those dark wheels.
 
After quite a bit of fence sitting between Magnetite Grey and Electric Blue , the CEO has come to the rescue and decided on Electric Blue which to quote her is “a fun colour” and it’s a “Fun car” , and “we already have a grey car” , simples 🤣

I‘ve updated my poll choice accordingly 👍😎

All of the BRZs come with a light grey/titanium alloy ( same design as the GR86) and look good, a simple colour change to grey or silver would help a lot and come in at well under £400 for a decent job if you can’t live with all black alloys 👍
 
I’ve gone for magnetite gray but will be changing the wheels to a bronze number as soon as I’ve worn out the tyres. Will also be going up to a 225 section because for some reason, they’re considerably cheaper than the 215 section!

As you say with such a short lifespan in Europe why bother creating an “edition” model when they can probably shift everything even without a ducktail or premium sound system🤷‍♂️ Saying that raiding the GR Racing parts bin for brakes , Coilovers , alloys and the JDM red interior would do nicely for the last few hundred 😎
 
Now we are getting closer to orders opening the colour choices appear to be evening out a bit. Anyone who likes black is very lucky. 😉

It’s Trueno Blue in the US , Dark Blue in some European countries and Saphire Blue Pearl in the U.K. 😳 but all the same colour code 👍

I really dont like black wheels on cars (just personal preference :) ) - I think the Sapphire will look great with some traditional silver wheels or light/mid grey.
Im getting Ice Silver but intending to change the wheels colour fairly quickly to a titanium / grey finish hopefully. One thing which is nice with these cars is it seems (in the US at least) there is a lot of customisation available.

Ha, I’ve been having the exact same conversation as we also have a grey car and came to the same conclusion. So Electric Blue manual it is!

Order now then test drive the demo when they get it and if you don't like it get your deposit back. Simples.
