Sorry my last post wasn't very clear - most launch prices are simply the base price and then you have to add on VAT and OTR charges.

Toyota have said It’s cheaper than the entry GR Yaris, therefore £30k + VAT and other costs is quite a lot more. Since when have manufacturers ever stated a private car price excluding VAT and delivery etc?! Not in the UK at least.

Hi all! I put a deposit down last week, aiming to get on the July allocation for an Electric Blue Manual.

Fingers crossed my dealer is on the ball next week, I sold my Mustang last month so there is a need to replace it with something interesting ASAP!

I have previously owned the GT86, and I kept that one for almost 3 years (a long time for me!)

Actual deposit isn’t due until a few days before delivery, so cancelling the order isn’t an issue.

Think the deposit due a few days before delivery is of the order £29,995. If you cancel once an official order has been placed then I think you’d lose your deposit. Of course if the car is in high demand the dealer might let you off at their discretion.

You shouldn't lose your deposit if you do it over the phone (distance selling) and/or if you haven't seen the car before.

There may not be much point in Toyota creating any special editions of these if demand outweighs supply.

Special editions are normally only there to create a few more sales in an otherwise flat demand.

Whether Toyota UK can get more of an allocation if the demand is higher than originally forecast is another matter entirely.

Looks like anniversary special edition just confirmed for the US.

A special edition might not just be to increase demand, could be used to increase profits. E.g new paint colour, better speakers and brembo brakes - might only cost Toyota £3-400 to make those changes but if they charge an extra £2-3000 then they are quids in.

Don’t worry we’re getting the GR86 at a decent OTR price and the options for Duckbill spoilers , including carbon fibre, are starting to come through, they probably won’t be more expensive than the factory option and don’t require drilling to fit them

I couldn’t even get to the colour selector earlier! Looks like they’re updating it as they go. Hopefully some dealer fit stuff appears today.

For info - it does now seem possible to place order via the website - however my dealer just confirmed for now this is the same as a pre-order some of us have done, and they are just stockpiling pre-orders via the website to put through on Monday.

In his words - nothing has changed - still no actual orders until Monday.
