Hi everyone,
I’ve been exploring remote tuning options for my GR Yaris, and I’ve come across a few different tuners. For example, Whifbitz requires the Ecutek programming kit and dongle for their remote tunes. In the USA, Limitplus1, which has experience with GR Corollas and some GR Yaris, offers remote tunes with the Phoneflash, similar to Litchfield in the UK. Limitplus1 is also a Master Tuner and offers E50 tunes, which is a great option for those looking for more power and flexibility.
My question is specifically about tuners like Whifbitz that use the programming kit. Aside from purchasing the kit and their ECU tune, do I also need to buy "flash points" or licenses? I’ve noticed that some UK tuners, who aren't Master Tuners, offer cheaper tunes but require flash points. For example, Tuning Developments, which isn’t a Master Tuner, has a lower tune cost compared to Master Tuners, but they do specify the need to purchase flash points. When I asked Whifbitz, they didn’t mention anything about flash points.
On the other hand, ACME, whose tune cost is very similar to Whifbitz, also adds the cost of flash points on top of the tune price. Whifbitz, however, didn’t mention this.
Does anyone here have experience with Whifbitz and can confirm if flash points are needed when purchasing the programming kit for a remote tune?
Thank you in advance for any help, I really appreciate it!
