GR Yaris The EcuTek thread

That’s exactly what I’m doing, same with Whifbitz - you must have the cable I’m waiting for!. Although apparently now it may not be needed, so we’re going to try through the OBD when everything is here 👍🏻

I didn’t fancy making the cables for inside the car.
Thats good if ecutek have sorted it. They got cable back yesterday, waiting on a refund and for them to check logs I sent, think there mega busy.

Anyone who's had the latest ecutek remap at Litchfield...was it a basic, off the shelf, map installed or bespoke to your mods?

Doesn't read like it's tuned on the Dyno, only mentions paying for a before and after dyno run??

I was asked for a list of mods (Eventuri intake + Legamax GPF back exhaust) at time of purchase of the EcuTek OBD dongle and remap, and a base map was then sent over to me and I was requested to do some logging and upload this file to them. A few days later a revised map was sent over so I re flashed to that one. I only done this because I live down in Kent, so if your near to them go and visit and get some dyno runs in and a custom map flashed.

I'm down in Kent too but used to travel up with my GT-R so don't mind the trip. So long as it's all done in 1 day lol

Yeah but I imagine the GT-R is a much better motorway muncher…. and I get a nosebleed if I go outside the M25 lol

Been playing with the dashboard function, very flexible. There are over 100 parameters that can be displayed, and the screen configuration can be as complex or pretty as you like.

Impressive.

Yes. It works even without an Ecutek remap, but you need their OBD dongle.

It's a lot more expensive than the normal ones you get one Amazon etc., but having used it I can see why. So much faster and has access to vastly more parameters, and you can log them all over time and export to CSV for later analysis.

If I'd seen it in action before now then I may have bought one anyway, even if I wasn't going for a Ecutek remap.

Hello everyone. I did my Yaris GR 2023 @ JRM Racing in Sweden (Stockholm). They did OPF-delete, Milltek exhaust, new intake from DO88 and then remapped the car with ECUtec. I got 323hp after the tune and the car pulled superhard in the top revs. The car worked perfect, I did the tune when the car was run in, maybe 2000km and sold the car with 10000km on it. I did several track days with not problem at all.

I know this thread is about tuning and ECUtec but im planing on buying the new Yaris GR and I will not tune it. The reason is that when i tuned my last one i didn´t know i would track it. But once I took it out on track then i was hooked, the car is designed to go on a track not to go and buy groceries or do roadtrips. And in the long therm my belif is that the small engine will last longer with original power. Especially if you are hammering it on the track.

Was the dyno measuring at the wheels or like Dyno Dynamics calculating crank figures ?

Recorded and sent the logs Litchfield requested via the convenient in-app submission. They were to show a mixture of partial throttle applications in normal driving, runs to the red line, sudden WOT in high gears etc. to ensure the boost targets were not being overshot.

All looked good apparently so they tweaked a few things and sent over an updated file which I flashed this morning.

Subjectively, it seems to be running even better now.

All very impressive!

The power was on the crank (converted somehow). Also wanted to say I was quite really early with this tune. When I did the first one it was still in beta. I liked it alot, but when i got the newer version of the tune (2 month later) it was mind blowing how hard i pulled in the top range (still beta).

I think in this 2 month JRM did like 25 Yaris GR and tested alot.

Just got this and Litchfield should be sending my final map tomorrow. Already feels a good bit quicker and much nicer to drive than the previous map 👍

Anyone got a GRY dashboard to share?

I read this thread with great interest and decided to take the EcuTek Racerom remote mapping plunge last week. I went with Litchfield but Whifbitz were a close second.
I have an eventuri with Miltek non res and resonated GPF delete from Whifbitz.
Iain Litchfield did the mapping. He sent me 2 maps initially. 1st one is a standard map that can reverted back to for Toyota servicing if needed and the 2nd was a base map for the data logging.
The process of flashing the ECU was really easy and took about 5 minutes. Then a 20 minutes spin to log some data. I found using a local slipway onto an A road or motorway is safest for the 3rd gear pulls. Once logged you sent the data back to Litchfield via the app. They then send you back a revised map and that’s where you start to see significant improvements in power.
The mapping was finalised yesterday on revision 6 and very happy with the outcome. Power is improved throughout the rev range and it pulls particularly hard above 5000 rpm all the way to 7200 rpm rather than falling away at 6000 rpm when standard.
Litchfield’s service was excellent, often getting back to me with a revised map on the same day. I found the process an excellent option if you live too far away from Litchfields and can’t get it on their dyno. The mapping was quite bespoke to my particular car rather than a generic one size fits all map.
For top trumps down the pub Litchfield estimates my power to be 330-340 based on dyno runs with similar GRYs.
So thanks guys for sharing your experiences as I’m really happy with the outcome. Any questions just ask.

Glad you are happy with it 👍lots of figures being used but IMO it's how the car feels, seems to be some clear leaders when it comes to tuners but probably comes down to location.

You’re absolutely right about quoted numbers. It just feels more lively across the entire rev range and even more fun if that could be possible! 😎

Still going with the remote tuning, not helped by me being a bit of a Luddite (Paul has had to put up with my idiotic questions!), not always at home to be able to do it and having issues with the Ecutek software and issues with the second map from Whifbitz - car wouldn’t start yesterday with ‘steering low pressure’ error, despite clearing the DTCs. We’re having to use the PC software to load onto the ECU from the OBD, not the app from the phone, but at least through the OBD is working as a couple of weeks ago it wasn’t. Hopefully get the fixed map back from Whifbitz soon, then another data log (again using the laptop), and we should be done.

It's a long process doing it via remote I'm 5 weeks in and on 6th revision so hopefully done soon
