GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

I'm just speaking to these guys about PPF and Ceramic on my GR86 .... can I ask what package you got with them / how much it costed?

They seem quite reasonable on the XPEL Track Pack (£1,250 + VAT) + Cermaic (£495 +VAT) ....
Track Pack
Full roof and A-Pillars
Full rear bumper
Headlights - PPF tint
Rear fog/reversing - PPF tint
Full ceramic
Two sets of wheels ceramic

not much change out of £3k

The standard of finish is impeccable.
BTW I know it’s a lot but I intend to keep the GR86 forever.

I have to admit that's an odd PPF package, nothing on the front but PPF on the roof and reverse light?

I'm going to guess that that track pack is the standard front end stuff, and everything else was separate to that and not included in the track pack.

Had my first service at Abbey Motorsport today. Great service as usual, although it cost me more than I bargained for, the eagle eyed tech spotted this. That'll be new front tyres then

Ooof. That's unlucky. Right in the sidewall too :/

You mind me asking how much the service cost? I'm assuming they are charging roughly the same as for the GT86, although I guess it's a bit more expensive now, as everything is. I'm just hoping it's not as extortionate as the dealer service costs.

Yeah of course it's no secret. Cost was £220, so still cheaper than Toyota but pretty expensive compared to the minor I had on the GT86 in April 22 which was £141. The price hike is predominately the oil, they don't use Miller's anymore they use Liqui Moly which is great but expensive (£78.41).

That's interesting about the oil, Millers was pretty good, but I know Liqui Moly is generally considered top notch. Did they put in 0w20? Think they used to recommend 5w30 for the GT, and I gather it might be better for longevity anyway.

Yeah they put in 0w-20. I did request 5w30 based on the history with the GT86 but we had an interesting discussion on it and it was decided for my use the 0w20 would be better, I left confident knowing it was the right choice. (Also reduces any aggro if I had to claim on the warranty)

On the Liqui Moly website they recommend either 0w20 or 5w30 for the GT86, however for the GR86, the only recommendation is 0w20 until 150,000Km when 5w30 then becomes an option. Even under the severe use category the suggestion says to stay with 0w20 but decrease the mileage/time between the service interval.

The move away from Millers was more a logistics thing than anything else, Millers preferred bulk orders which Abbey can't really accommodate.

Bloody kids on Halloween threw eggs at the house last night. 🤬Thankfully the cars seem unharmed. Having had an egg hit a car door in the past I know how much damage it causes because the shell shatters the laquer. An egg flew over 3 cars (inc the GR) down the drive to hit the garage so I am at least thankful they had a decent throw!
