GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

Chased the sun after escaping the office for the day and got within sniffing distance of 1,000 miles.

Had the car in pieces fitting sound deadening today. Did the rear wheel wells, under the rear seats, inside the doors, and the boot lid. Car sounds a lot quieter and the doors make a more satisfying thunk when you shut them. You need to be a contortionist to manoeuvre everything inside the car though.

I've also fitted my dashcam and I've put in some LEDs for the reversing lights, so it's been a productive day!

How much weight do you think you added?
 
Is there a consensus that the car is particularly loud/boomy? I’m 1500 miles into a road trip at the moment, with a fair amount of miles sat on autoroutes at 85mph and thought the cabin noise was actually pretty decent, and haven’t even felt the need to pump the music up to hide anything (volume sits between 8-10).

It was something I was slightly concerned about, but found the tyre roar on my FK8 to be far more annoying than the GR86.
 
Impressive. Don’t think I’d be brave enough to do that myself but what insulation did you use?

When I test drove the GR86 the road noise was pretty noticeable.

You know you're supposed to roller the matting to make the diamonds go away to ensure is stuck down properly?
Or did you do that in the 3/4 after the photo?

It is bloody hard work in the back though if you're not a midget!

Why don't think just give you flat material? I can't see the benefit of something that requires flattening.

The diamonds are there as a visual aid, the butyl itself flat.

I am used to driving older cars, so it's certainly quieter than a 71 Volvo 1800es or a 86 911 Supersport. It will do fine for us 🫢👍😁

Did you remove the front seats to make it easier?
