GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

Weighbridge measurements should be taken with a pinch of salt, they can be accurate, but they are typically designed to weigh heavy vehicles loads, so tolerances are wider.

It would be like using bathroom scales for cooking.

Agreed. I know how scales work and the legality tolerances if you sell off them as it's the day job but at smaller weight levels. Have floor scales that go to 3t in production but I don't think they'll let me take the car in :ROFLMAO:

I think I have one not too far away. Will pop one day and report back.

Moved my car into the garage, it's way too sunny/hot to leave it out. I had a MK4 Supra that the sun had bubbled up the dash, not sure how the GR86 will fare with prolonged exposure so better safe than sorry is my take.

From memory the old industrial scales for trucks are +-20kg since they usually need to measure much higher weights.

I was out detailing the GR86 at 0800 this morning (to beat the heat) and fortunately managed to get it all done and covered up before the sun crept around the house. It’ll stay there until I head off to Annan on Saturday, so as to keep it dust and bird-poop free 🐦‍⬛…

The last day of driving the Alpine Passes, we did Stelvio but couldn't go up from Bormio due to that particular route only being open at certain times of the day. The route was: Colico > Tirano > Val Mustair > Livigno > Stelvio > Glorenzo (called in at the Puni Whisky distillery) > final destination, Wenns Austria. 224 miles in 8.5hrs and not many photo stops

Been trying to find diagnostic apps that work with Android Auto after coming across Car Scanner that will but it's bit basic on Android Auto itself. You can make a custom screen to show things like type temps and intake temp but it's one line. You can't customise it to be nice. But is handy. PSI also shows down to 2 decimal places too.

DashOBD supports AA. I experimented with it, but it wasn't all that reliable, but only because I only had a cheap Bluetooth OBD2 adapter and I'm not bothered enough to get a proper one.

After a rather exacting 8-mile walk through the woods, fields and orchards of Kent (a few miles S of Maidstone - and no, they weren't any ripe enough to sample),

I just had to stop for refreshment at this delightful little pub just off the A25 near Wrotham Heath for a pint of Landlord.

Cambman do you drive through Sittingbourne much? I keep seeing a mag grey GR86.

Take a look at Torque Pro and AA-Torque...

Torque Pro we all know and love (least I do!) and AA-Torque is a free app that been developed to integrate Torque Pro data into Android Auto. I have it set up on my GR86 running on my Pixel 9 phone and it works pretty well. It allows you to select 3 main PID's to monitor as gauges and another 4 just to show as numbers on the screen - fairly customisable but not as customisable as Torque Pro....

AA-Torque is free here https://github.com/agronick/aa-torque and follow the installation instructions - you need to run Andorid Auto in Dev mode and I also used an AA Wireless adapter that I also ran in Dev mode to get it all to work (but this 'might' now be optional). The easiest way to install the software is to join their 'testers' group which will then let you install the AA Torque app from the google app store instead of having to do all the side loading business mentioned... see the Discussion page - I think its the top thread on that page.

I had problems with AA-Torque not starting Torque Pro on connection - you can get around this with an app like Tasker and write a small task to start Torque-Pro when your phone connects to the car or to the wireless adapter or the OBD dongle...

I bought an OBDLink LX which is much better, faster and stable that the cheap adapters on amazon/ebay but it is £100 or so...

If people would like I can write a full post on this and how to do it?...

Good luck!

No, it can't have been me as I've only ever stayed in the Maidstone/Sevenoaks/Tonbridge area for walking trips. At least you've seen another grey 86 - I've only ever seen one black one in almost two years! 😲
