GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

There is a rubber seal that sits along the back edge so the gap is normal. There are gaps in the tape and the seal so any water can escape overtime so don’t worry about that.

Seems like a most coincidental segway into what I spent some time doing with my GR86 Ducktail yesterday afternoon.
I believe that my frequent power washing and misjudged placement of fixing tape too far back (on the curved inner edge) had resulted in some gapping in exactly the same places as noted by @Renzokuken86.
My solution has been to apply a bead of Silka StixAll adhesive sealant along the rear edge to prevent me getting any more water in there. The end result looks good now, but my goodness I got the bloody stuff all over the place during application 😳. Plenty of Gtechniq Glue & Tar remover was in order!

It should be noted that my spoiler is not OEM, but a cheap eBay replica and is DIY affixed by 3M PT1100 acrylic tape.

Booked in for 2nd service early December (still < 6000 miles ).
Collection and delivery were free last year but now an additional £60!
("This cost also reflects the rising expenses due to the cost of living" ;))

Bit the bullet and had the ducktail spoiler added today while getting the car's first major service done at Snow's Toyota in Sarisbury Green. I would've considered trying to install it myself, either with drilling holes or just the 3M tape, but I just don't have the space or tools where I'm staying for work at the moment. In case anyone's wondering about having it done by a dealer it cost me £820 inc. VAT (spoiler part + 2.5hrs labour @ £168/hr). Extortionate I know, I justify it knowing I don't have any other plans for mods going forward.

I supplied my own Millers Oil and OEM filter which brought the service cost down to £380 inc. VAT. Overall I'm pleased with the service I got but would be great to get someone's opinion on the fitment. It seems like there are larger gaps between the spoiler and the boot lid in the circled areas below - is this an issue regarding water getting in? Also wondering if it's likely to reduce the gap as the 3M tape cures over time.

Thanks all!
Perfect colour match and looks good.
Do you know if they drilled or 3M tape? Did you get an option to choose?

I'd enquired about them just doing the 3M tape to save on the labour cost (and if I ever decided I wanted to remove it) a few months ago when I booked the service but didn't bring it up when I went in this week. They said it would be installed according to the instructions so I'm presuming it was drilled.

Booked in for 2nd service, got told it's £470. Told them it won't be because I'll bring my own oil and filter. Didn't offer a courtesy. Mentioned a few niggles I want them to check and that by the time it happens it should be on the new wheels so I want it adding as a second set of wheels. They seemed to have no idea and would look into it. I have no confidence that they will do it right and end up overwriting the existing wheels and as it will be end of November, I'll get them added then wheels will be off, should I choose to use it over Christmas.

What? The TPMS is one of the few things that actually comes from Toyota on this car. It is similar to what EU Yarises and Corollas had for ages.

I have a cracked Techstream and a knock-off OBD cable and anytime I wanted to write the second set, either the techstream crashed or the cable lost connection.

Show them this image and ask for a discount 😂 it literally takes no more than 5 minutes.

So did you manage to do it with techstream in the end? Am tempted to get it but I'd need to buy a laptop too.
no, but that is either because of the knock-off cable or the cracked version of the Techstream. Techstream would not show you something that it can't do if that makes sense.

Got up before the sun and the non GR Sunday drivers and headed north into the Cairngorms. Beautiful morning although cool and with salt on the roads which the sheep seemed to like eating (🤦🏼‍♂️) but really enjoyed the run. The car really is in its element on great A & B roads.
