GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

Had a cracking 2 hour drive back through Surrey from the PPF place yesterday, cannot wait to be able to properly open it up. Setting the rev limit beep to 4k makes it much easier to keep eyes on the road while running in.

The constant Android Auto disconnects and bluetooth errors are extremely annoying/distracting though. Was using a brand new cable but will try a different one to see if that helps (not sure the bluetooth errors would be related though).

Word of warning: Treat Track mode like traction control is fully off! It's much looser than any previous car I've owned and will let the car spin even without breaking 4k rpm (don't ask me how I know 😅).

I'm glad I'm not the only one having Bluetooth errors on the android auto. Gonna open a new thread on interiors about it.

Got the mudguards fitted today, I’m quite pleased with the way they look, will see how well they stop mud from flicking up onto the bodywork over the next few weeks. Actually had the weather to wash my car today, and then on queue, as always, 5 mins after I was done we have a sprinkling of rain (is it just me this happens to all the time?!). Have to say that it was much easier to clean than I’m used to with it having a ceramic coating, despite everything the weather threw at it over the last couple of weeks. Pictures of the mudguards for anyone that’s interested:

I cleaned the rear view camera, it got pooped on by a bird then kerbed the nsr again reversing up my own drive, this is why i don’t clean cars!

Also i’m pretty sure the wheels are made of cheese

Did another 100 miles in it today, took it to the motorist in sherburn, as per @AndyRC recommendation. Great place. Fantastic food. And before I could get out the car people were coming up to look at and talk to me about it :ROFLMAO:
Glad you enjoyed it 01.01.2023 will be busy if the weather is kind 👍

I've treated all rubber with some Liqui Moly Gummi-plfege today and fitted LED lights to the overhead interior dome, door lights and the boot.

Easy jobby but I would not recommend replacing bulbs with the cheapest LEDs you can find, as the ones I got previously simply aren't bright enough ().

Got these on order now which only cost £11 for a set of 10 with taxes, so should leave you a spare for each light.

Also got the windscreen's chip filled in on Tuesday, forgot to update the thread. It's not pretty but it will keep the windscreen intact for now, any new stone chips and I'll be asking for a replacement though.

B roads around Aylesbury - up to 675 miles now, getting there........

Were the cheap LEDs at least brighter than the stock halogen bulbs?

Yes, they do work and provide an improvement over stock lighting, but I noticed that the design doesn't provide uniform lighting you'd ideally want, most noticeable in the boot.

Last night my interior lights seemed to stay on in the car after locking it so I'll have to investigate if there's an issue, but otherwise even the cheapest LEDs are an improvement over the stock halogen lights.

Up to 630 miles now, did a few longer trips this week. Has anyone else noticed high-speed instability? Even at like 60-70mph mine is trying to chuck me into other lanes and cars. It's an intermittent problem so could just be wind as it's a light car.

Tyre pressures are all fine, couldn't think what else it could be. I'm used to old cars with faults so I'm not expecting an S Class or anything it's a perfectly fine long-distance car otherwise.

I had this the other night on a long motorway drive but it was a blustery evening. The previous gen was the same, weirdly suspectible to crosswinds I guess being fairly light. I never felt like it was bad enough to be dangerous though.

On the contrary I've found it really good. Weather has been awful here and it's more stable than the vRS was. You do have to always steer it though as it's not as relaxed as other cars. But it's fine.

Reverse LEDs fitted, saved them for last thinking they'd be the trickiest but what a piece of cake.

The colour and brightness is now matching what you'd expect from a 2022 model! Only thing I'm unsure of is how they look through the lenses 🤔

Mine arrived this morning, but I don't fancy lying on the wet ground to replace them just yet :p

Thanks I bought some cheap ones too, think they were 1000lm. Will use these first once the car arrives in Spring to see how they fare, before plumping for higher specced lights. Also, I couldn't work out what the Wattage draw on the higher lumen ones were, which I thought might create an issue?
