GR86 What did you do with your GR86 today

Back from the unheated workshop... Exchanged most of the rubber bushes with Powerflex parts (driving behaviour was somewhat strange due to too weak bushes). A very short test drive (without alignment check) showed that it was worth the trouble/work and steering wheel position is as it was before.

Bye for now Fred

What's fuel treatment?
It's a bottle of stuff that they whack in your fuel tank (like Redex) and charge you around £25 for the privilege. It's one of several service add-on 'scams' for the unsuspecting customer. Another offer is sometimes their 'Air-Con treatment', which will add a further £20 ish onto your bill - In contrast, an AirCon Bomb from Euro Car parts costs £2.99 and you can do it yourself in five minutes. Dealerships are chancing buggers, even more so now that car sales are becoming centralised by the manufacturers.

Sonic has it in one, really (and this is from an ex-aftersales manager for a franchised dealership!).

Fortunately, the manufacturer whose dealership group previously employed me made cars which in their service book, expressly forbade the use of any oil or fuel additives, warning it could invalidate the warranty. Thus, when at one of the dealership's accounts meetings and the upselling of Fortron additives was suggested, I pointed this little snippet from the service booklet out and created a rather awkward (and blissful...) silence!

More reasons why I wont be ever taking my car back to a dealership 😆

If i came back to collect my car and found all that crap on the invoice, I'd tell them to jog-on 😜

I can only concur - the benefit of Scots Law - Not Proven
So, the conclusion from the Judge on this particular battery drain issue - let's use the £500 from Toyota wisely. Very last minute arrangements and we are off to Munich and Salzburg tomorrow for a few days. Panoramic train booked for a day trip to Salzburg. Beer and Pretzels in Marienplatz, and a nice museum or two. I am therefore satisfied with the compensation in terms of my mental health and wellbeing - before having to go back to this thing called work 😁

Took her for a little spin through the fog and freezing weather to start the day right 😁 the much needed wash is coming later during the day :)

Postie delivered my new set of ‘show only’ Chrome Finish Tuner Nuts, so it was out with the Brasso and a bit of rag in preparation for the 2025 Season. Obviously I’ll do the same nearer the time, but who doesn’t enjoy some spur of the moment nut polishing action on a Monday?
