GR Yaris What did you do to your GR Yaris today?

Ahhh, so you do one lift for the back axle swapping those wheels over temporarily, then do the front to back swap on each side... so you'd be doing essentially three lifts, rather than what I supposed was probably just two... once for the front axle, one for the back?

Yep, three lifts (as the front is so fiddly to get to with my jack).

It's not a big hassle really, although wouldn't want to be doing it in this weather!

Don't quote me on it, but I usually lift the whole side (both wheels off ground) from the front one of the side lifting points. Works as 60% of weight is in front.

Your jack lifts higher than mine. Mine didn't get quite high enough, and thought I'd share the load across the front and back points.

Think times have changed, cheapest one on Costco is 60 quid and it's not even low profile!

I actually looked last week!
Toolstation has one for £30.

Toolstation has one for £30.

I ended up spending a bit more and getting a lower profile one in the end, but thanks for the ideas

Some drifting, but it is to leight weight for powder 😅❄️🤙

You cannot beat having a decent trolley jack. It’s one thing that just isn’t worth skimping on. I have a long low profile high lift aluminium, 4 pumps and both wheels off the floor. I’ve had a few over the years but every time I use this one I’m glad I spent the money. Wide stable platform with a decent jack cup.

Good idea. Mine is identical to that Toolstation one (Halfords branded, had it for 20+ years, probably cost less than £15 then 😁) and while it gets the job done it’s doesn’t exactly spark joy when using it.

It’s not bad enough to force me to get a decent low-profile aluminium one though.

Yeah, mine is the same (although red) and cost me £15 because someone I worked with managed to buy two by mistake so sold me the other for half price.

It did the job to get the car up to fit the flaps, and is enough to get the wheels off. If I was doing anything more then that, I'd invest in a low-profile one.

Currently waiting at FRF Swansea for my service. They’ve done the intermediate one but then called me to say it needs the full one so will be another hour. And another £150 (£450 in total!)

They’ve got a GR Supra and GR Yaris Convenience Pack on the forecourt.

Pedant Alert ⚠ - looks like Standard GRY, rather than a Convenience Pack...

But do they have a GR86? Closest GR Centre to Pembrokeshire so would have a look if they have.

What reason did they give for doing a full service
Its first (intermediate or ‘A’) service was done a year ago, and every other service is a full or ‘B’ service, so it was £450 this time. As far as I can tell there’s no extra fluid changes like the gearbox or diff oil, just more checks are done.

Having the intermediate done first, and then it having to go back in for the extra work for the full, has shown that an extra £150 for 20-30 minutes labour is a bit of a rip-off.

When you factor in the 6 month safety checks (now £75), you realise that’s it’s now quite an expensive car to maintain. Even if you do zero miles you’re looking at £450 per year average for servicing.

I also got quoted for a service plan, Toyota fixed price of course, £1,275 for ‘6’ services. This is actually only 3 services, 2 intermediate and 1 full, and 3 safety checks. So the service plan saves you a grand total of…that’s right, f**k all! It’s essentially just a pay monthly option, but one that ties you in to a service plan at one garage. So no thanks.

What a scam this 10 year warranty is. It’s actually just an extended warranty insurance policy, with a £4,500 premium. 😂

Luckily, they made the car good fun to drive. And it still costs significantly less to run than all kinds of sports cars, with slower real world pace!
