GR Yaris What did you do to your GR Yaris today?

I finally got to take mine on my favourite road while visiting my parents for the first time since I got my car. It’s a great B-road with decent sight lines and the Yaris was phenomenal, genuinely one of the best driving experiences I’ve ever had. The way it hooked up into corners and the grip on the tighter hairpins was next level - as others have said, when the roads get difficult the car just comes alive and I hadn’t really experienced that until today. It’s amazing. Here’s an atmospheric photo:

"Blitz" sounds right on queue sadly (one meaning in German is "flash"). Got the first GRY souvenir picture taken today :(. I'm such an idiot. That money printing machine has been installed for yonks at that place. Car made me do it, I swear :).

Broke the 1000 km barrier. And as I was on the autobahn anyway, oil nice and warm - quick check to see what it's like near the 230 kph limiter. Didn't quite get to the cut off due to traffic. But feels very planted at 200+. Didn't expect it to be that good.
The limiter is awful, best to feather the throttle so you don’t actually hit it 😂

I would like to feel this at some point. I’ve only taken an Integra Type R on the autobahn, which doesn’t have an artificial limiter. It ran out of puff doing an indicated 145 mph in 5th gear at 7,500 rpm, which felt interesting. 😳

Steering was a bit light but otherwise felt pretty solid and stable. Not bad for 187 bhp!

The German marques have this sorted (naturally), you just brush up against whatever limit is in place and it pretty much holds there.

Toyota's leaves you lurching up and down the road like a 17yo's first driving lesson. Other than that though, it's stable enough and can obviously go faster, but probably not by a huge amount.

I only test drove an Integra when they were new, and never got near its vmax :ROFLMAO: but they were nice cars :)

My BX19GTi did the cut-the-power-completely thing at the rev limiter and then full power the moment the revs dropped, then cut, then got, then cut, then go. Was a bit of a shock the first time it happened

A colleague of mine had one.

He was the most restrained driver I've ever known.

He took me out in it once, and cruising along the motorway at, I'm guessing, 69mph, he asked if I'd like to hear it when the revs were up. Of course I said yes expecting a wild burst of acceleration. Instead he obliged by changing down into third and carefully rev matching so we continued at, I'm guessing, 69mph but with a lot more engine noise. He checked that I'd heard the noise and then changed back into top. Whilst still maintaining, I'm guessing, 69mph.

Brilliant. It was my third car, and I was in my late twenties, so I wasn’t so restrained. I looked after it but gave it hell everywhere. Took it to the Nurburgring for my stag do. Carried five blokes and all our camping clobber. Did 12 laps of the ‘Ring without a hiccup. Drove home (part of which at 145 mph). Used about 200 ml of oil for the trip.

I absolutely loved that car. I’ll never know why but I sold it for a 40 year old Lotus Elan. Blew the engine up the day I bought it. Talk about sampling both ends of the reliability spectrum.

My dad used to have BXs when I was little. Don’t think I ever appreciated just how quirky and awesome they were at the time, because we had about 3 or 4 saloons and estates through my childhood. Would absolutely love a GTi, and am guessing they are pretty rare things by now!

BX 4TC. That was a machine 😳 unfortunately only 200 homologation specials build. And more unfortunately, only 86 sold. The other got destroyed by Citroën AFAIK. Wasn't as successful as planned in Rally, but the hydropneumatic suspension looks interesting.

thats because it was basically crap!

I gave the little bastard a wash and dry. Our pest killing guy sprayed a wasps nest on our roof and proceeded to drop loads of powder on the car and this was shortly followed by a bunch of dead wasps.

Sooo gross.
