GR Yaris What did you do to your GR Yaris today?

Since swapping the winter rims over the AliExpress special TPMS are failing to pick up again like last year.. Another trip to the tyre shop next week. Might invest in some new ones and clone my summers.

Fitted my shortened front mud flaps, was not going to bother with the rears but saw that old post of @RichM with the gold Braids on which I love the look of. So I am getting the Stanley knife out to shorten the standard Rallyflapz rears to fit this weekend.

I had to search for new sensors in the settings to pick up my 2nd set that I previously used. OEM just auto detects :(

I feel your pain. Mine are not detecting with the search function in settings. Might splash out for another set of OEM for Christmas as I am using the work van quite a bit these next few weeks so I am not in a great rush to swap them just yet, only using it to take my kid swimming on a weekend at present so its getting a weekly run.
 
If it helps make a decision, my summer and winter wheels both have OEM TPMS, having picked up a second hand set of OEM wheels before my car actually arrived. Over the last 4 years it's just been a case of swapping the wheels and starting the identify wheel position process from the dash. The most I've had to do is repeat the process a couple of times, this year it did it first time now I know not to reverse the car mid process. The spare Aliexpress set of TPMS I have look so similar I'd find it hard to believe they aren't the same product, but I don't know much about the Autel and cloned ones.

Took the car out for a long wet drive around Anglesey at the weekend, and picked up some fab donuts (no not that kind) from the wonderful Melin Llynon.

Plenty of tread still left on my Crossclimate 2s, so it's not time to try the 3 Sport yet. Not sure if it was just particularly wet and greasy, or I've got too used to the PS4S, or the torque boost from the remap, but there was more breaking traction than I remember 😇

TPMS paired within 1 minute of driving for a change. Also can attest to Crossclimates not having the same levels of grip thanks to an enthusiastic mini roundabout entry this morning.

Delisted my car. In order to delist, one must first; list. Which I did for some insane reason.

Some people, including me, need to lick the icy pole in order to belive our tongue will stick. It won't work telling us it will hurt, we have to experience it.

So I thought I was ready to pass on the GR Yaris in order to get a more family friendly car. Do the right thing. Be an adult etc.

But after listing my car and receiving messages from interested parties and also other GR owners asking about this and that, I got what the young ones call "an icky feeling". The thought of giving this special, special car up to someone else did not sit right with me. My current financial situation and outlook tells me this will potentially be my last opportunity to own a ICE car like this fresh of the line. Variety is the spice of life and I know I could get something special pre-owned down the line, but not new. I won't be able to drive around knowing it's 99,99% my farts in the seat. The remaining 0,01 % is my wife and that's at least in the family, also they're not as "significant" as mine. Don't belive they do the same damage, but who knows. Im not a scientist. Anywho.

As I said, I needed to lick the pole here to get the final realization. And thankfully I got said 'icky feeling' before I had done the deed and sold my soul to the highest bidder. Sure, I could get another Yaris sometime and that would be cool and all. But I would't be "just mine". Im sticking with it and someday, when the kids are older, I'll have to buy a third car to ferry the brats around town. But then I'll at least get to take the Yaris for a weekend blast, and who knows, maybe pass it on to one of my kids one day. If it's special to my (and moste of us on here) generation, It's gonna be hella-special for them.

These were my thoughts and feelings and should not under any circumstance be judged as right or wrong. People think and act differently and that's 100% ok. At the end of the day it's just a car (... is it though?)

That's exactly how I feel. Literally yesterday my 5 year old boy from the backseat while driving "Dad when I am older I am going to buy a Focus RS and a GR Yaris (I have taught him well)". I turned around and said "you don't need to buy a GR Yaris as you already have one". I have a VW caddy combo van for work which I am finding I'm using more for the commute and taking the boy to school. Handy that it fits his race BMX in the back too! Makes using the GR Yaris a bit more special at weekend. I have put 40,000km on the GR Yaris in the 21 months of ownership, never selling it.
 
What I didn't do on the GRY and which I regret not doing much sooner.

Corner lights. If you do night drives like me (empty roads!), I should have fixed corner lights much earlier in my driver life, such a difference in tight corners, difference between no fun and maximum fun.

Even has the perfect spot for it circled red, angled out.

E.g. Purelux Phantom or Ledson Nano are very small and very bright for their size and should fit there (but do check). May need to extend a bracket for easy mounting.

The former works great on my current car, very discrete yet very effective....

Just a tip...
 
Further to Onehp's suggestion, having thought about it some time back, I had taken measurements of that space while I had removed the bumper to replace my fog lights.
Roughly 80 x 80mm and that black part can be clipped out once the bumper is off.
