Would love to know more about why the GRMN has this specific issue/what these are. Eg an Ogier special edition gen 2 got imported recently and is on the road, so curious as to what it is about the GRMN:If registering the grmn is correct then the importers in for a shock.

Thanks. Assume they’re in storage for a while then with a hope that they remain sought after!Ogier, was sold here.
There’s been a few GRMN imported over the last few years but none have been road registered. C-tec, JM autos and automotive passion have all imported plus the AJM one that started this off.
Found the reason why they have to wait 10 years.
today i recived the export certificate and the GRMN cant be registered in the uk until its 10 years old just as i suspected there was no specification number or classification number on the export certficate just an update for the guys who were asking
Dont we all love trade warsOgier, was sold here.

Thought this was similar case to the US import law (25 year rule) which was clearly targeted trade strategy, but reading more about this UK case I see now its related to the technical aspect of registering . Still its imo pretty weird that you need to wait 10 years to register it, then suddenly its not an issue at all.I must be missing some context here, how is the inability to register a GRMN related to trade wars?

In the US at least it's about safety and emissions regs
The Imported Vehicle Safety Compliance Act of 1988 is a piece of U.S. legislation that requires imported vehicles to comply with the same safety standards as domestically manufactured vehicles, making it difficult and often impossible to import newer vehicles unless they meet specific exemptions, such as the 25-year rule for classic cars.
Here's a breakdown of its key aspects:
In simple terms, if a vehicle isn't designed to meet American safety standards, it generally cannot be legally imported into the U.S. unless it is old enough to be exempt under the 25-year rule.
- Purpose:
To ensure that vehicles imported into the United States meet all the safety standards set by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that apply to vehicles sold in the U.S.- Mechanism:
It created a system of bonds and penalties to prevent the unsafe or non-compliant vehicles from entering the U.S. market.- The 25-Year Rule:
While the Act makes it difficult to import most modern vehicles, vehicles that are at least 25 years old (based on their original year of manufacture) can be exempted from these safety and emissions requirements.- Impact:
This Act primarily targets newer or modified vehicles, as they are less likely to meet U.S. safety regulations. It effectively makes it challenging to import many popular foreign models that weren't originally built for the U.S. market, leading to the popularization of the 25-year rule for enthusiasts.
To conclude my japan rental car reservation rollercoaster, I managed cancel the phony GR Yaris and found an other station with a GR86 available. The GR86 was even 10€ cheaper. It is toyota rental.
I've seen Omoren. They have quite a collection to choose from and the price for a real full fat GR Yaris was reasonable.
Unfortunately, their nearest shop is 1,5h away from where we are staying.
I tried to change/cancel my reservation at the Toyota Rental website but the servers for this service are under maintenance since Friday. Very frustrating.
Head to a track. You’ll see at least a few.So for reasons that are unforeseen and not ideal I am in the UK for a few weeks. I have been looking and no GRY to be seen! Are you sure you guys got the car or just making stuff up?
