GR Yaris What did you do to your GR Yaris today?

This weekend was the Night King 2025 event in Berlin from Race at Airport. Parallely there was the possibility to race my GR Yaris in the quartermile. :)

Ended up 3rd in my class ( class 4 for cars with a 3.0Ltr engine max. - Turbo adds x1.7) with a best run of 12.916s. 1st got 12,342s with a Honda Civic 1.6T followed by another Honda Civic 1.6T and 12.905s.

Will soon bin the DTUK box and get a Ecutek tune i guess. The piggyback is doing a great job for what it is and i guess the car has around 300-310hp /390-410nm with an Eventuri intake, Forge inlet and an full exhaust still maintaining the stock cat which kills the whole purpose i guess. Cooling is another factor since i had to open the hood after each run (60-90mins between runs) since the intake pipe was more than hot.

60ft. time was 1,891s on stock Michelins PS4 and normal pressure (F2.4 / R2.3).
1/8mile 8,315 with 132,51kmh
1/4mile 12,916s with 175,04kmh

Swapped 3month old Toyota brake fluids to Motul RBF600. Wasn't happy how OEM fluids performed on track last time. But too cheap now to go with Endless. Motul is 3x cheaper. The toyota filler plug is crap and leaks little even it is fixed firmly. so not really fun job in that regard. Maybe need to change its o-rings and try again.

Finally took mine to the Elan Valley, just got back with mixed emotions (rambling self-reflections as follows):

1) Enjoyed the route between Brecon and Builth Wells, nice and flowing which needs full concentration, even though it’s fairly enclosed between the hedges so you have to be on your guard.

2) In light of the above, I’m not sure I get what’s so good about the reservoirs route in the Elan Valley itself (turn left at the second dam then go the long way round them). Is it the industrial scenery, which I admit is pretty good? It was a quiet day for traffic, and sure the roads are nice and twisty but they’re so blind that you have to crawl through the bends. I’d not do it again, think there’s much better roads around such as the above.

3) The Rhayader to Aberystwyth mountain road on the other hand is superb, and I’d definitely go back for it. You have to watch for sheep but there’s a couple of great sections on the plateau bit at the top where there is good visibility and some nice corners, and before it narrows again towards the descent in the Aberystwyth direction. I think Snowdonia, Scotland and Peak District still rank well above it, but it’s a fair bit less of a drive.

4) Car wise, it’s the first time I’ve struggled with the Yaris and feeling a bit flat about it, to the extent that I am (finally) wondering if it’s for me! The whole day I barely went above half throttle, it just felt too sketchy to risk it. It is still amazing in the corners and I love its character, but I never want to push my limits. On these roads and any that are more open, I feel like I have to hold back quite a lot and let off the throttle quite a lot, as you soon get to the speed limit. For a brief section I drove some twisty bits at the speed limit, but you have to be so careful with not being able to see round the next corner and while that’s obviously the best way to drive, it’s lessening my enjoyment somewhat.

I’m genuinely wondering if I should swap to a GR86 instead, almost a year ago to the day that I borrowed one in Switzerland (here ) where I loved the experience and being able to plant my foot down, but not reach silly speeds instantaneously. Just thinking that I could use it to its potential a bit more, but equally would probably regret not having the Yaris around as it has more meaning/symbolism to me.

Anyways food for thought.

Annoyingly PPF lifted on one of corners on the front bumper... Tomorrow I am contacting the detailing garage to have it checked, anyone has an experience with such lift? Definitely dirty underneath so I am afraid replacement will be needed for that part, luckily it is under warranty.

They'll most likely just slice that section off, make sure the new edge is stuck down properly and leave it as is. I'd be surprised if they'll replace the whole piece.

Is this from Omoren/Omoshiro?

I'm planning on doing the same but October 2026

Edit: sorry just saw that you had accidentally ordered an RS - maybe given Omoren a look! They even have a heavily modified one that I'd be interested in trying
It is toyota rental.

I've seen Omoren. They have quite a collection to choose from and the price for a real full fat GR Yaris was reasonable.
Unfortunately, their nearest shop is 1,5h away from where we are staying.

I tried to change/cancel my reservation at the Toyota Rental website but the servers for this service are under maintenance since Friday. Very frustrating.

Very nice car - it needs to pass an IVA and MOT before it can be registered and driven on UK roads - if it hasn't already.
For example, the speedo is reading km/h and it needs to read mph.

One thing that bugs me about PPF is it’s never perfect. But then I remind myself that even a mediocre PPF job beats having no PPF at all.

Mine has been great and saved my paint from proper stone chip damage, detailing company which installed it is highly professional and have lot of experience with sports cars and luxury cars wrapping. Just sometimes things can get faulty, thats life. I have a scheduled appointment on tuesday to have it fixed so we will see.

If you Google registering Japanese import into UK you can see the various steps needed.
Someone with far more knowledge than me will be able to explain but there’s something about the GRMN that means it’s not possible and so a 10 year period needs to pass to allow an SVA. This has been discussed numerous times across here and Facebook.

Well, given the fact that at least some of those for sale have number plates, tax records etc. they’re definitely getting registered here, so…
