GR Yaris What did you do to your GR Yaris today?

I understand, my GRY is the daily car and makes smile everyday.
Agree, if I had the space/funds I'd have 3-4 cars, but as a one and only urban life car it ticks a real life enthusiasts box BIG time, worth the small sacrifices (occasional passengers, faffing with mountain bike, road noise on boring motorways....) :)

Drove mine for the first time in a few days and noticed my steering wheel slightly off centre. Which then annoyed me after I noticed it. So booked it in with dealer for Friday for a laser alignment.

went to Morrisons, bought some Guinness (and a few other non important bits the GF wanted),

then most importantly took a scenic route home with the shopping bag safely strapped into the passenger seat.

oh just in case anyone was worried, the GF wasn't in the boot, she stayed home.

Looked at the gr in the drive yesterday then watched the mighty ireland hammer englandshire in the rugby.
Yeah I watched that too, somewhat unfortunately as a supporter of England, although there were some aspects of the performance that were positive. Well played Ireland, and with a new / stand in coach too. Looking forward to the rest of 6N and Lions in Aus in summer 😄.
Apologies, slightly OT

We cant just live and breath our cars, the rugby was good, hardly a hammering.

Today, I watched a new crack in the windscreen move across from the passenger side all the way to the drivers side as I drove to work

I was out in the car yesterday and got peppered by stones thrown up by a Mercedes AMG GT in front.

I guess I picked up a small chip from that. It was -2c when I started the car this morning, so I assume the heat from the blowers caused it to open up and crack.

The crack started at the very bottom of the screen in line with the middle of the passenger seat, took a right turn and moved all the way past the centre of the steering wheel by the time it stopped.

At least you can still drive it legally . I had to have a new screen and it took 3 weeks to get a replacement as they have to come from Toyota

It’s definitely an MOT fail as it is now

If you can point me at legislation that says I shouldn’t be driving the car…

I suspect if you came across VOSA they’d stop you leaving. But I think most of the time they’re out for trucks. (A friend once got stopped years ago with a bulb out and they wouldn’t let him leave until it was fixed. So I had to go on a late night hunt for a garage open to get a bulb to help him out).

However section 40a of the road traffic act is probably the gotcha the police could use but in all honesty the chances of being stopped would be remote. If you think it’s not impacting vision then I’d carry on whilst awaiting the new screen to arrive.

Yeah it’s not to any meaningful degree, given the high seating position I have to be looking down for it to be in my eyeline

I’ve got a replacement appointment booked for Monday, lets see if they actually get a screen that fast

Gave it a wash, was EXTREMELY salty and dirty, too bad i did not take a before pic.

Also took off some glaring asphalt stains on the body. Vacuumed the inside, and polished the exhaust tips. Siliconed the rubbers, checked the oil level, 2 k till 20.000 km maintenance, cleaned the engine bay a bit.

Yes i know the rims are not very clean, did not bother with them as it was an outside wash and it was -3 degrees.

2k to 20k km service! Good to see it being used 😉 Just had my 20k service last month.

I remember when mine was that shiny... 😢

I would have a look at your insurance conditions too. Mine wasn't as bad as that. Cost about £800 to replace by Toyota - make sure they fit all of the seals as well. I think it is 4 or 5 - can't remember.

Thanks, how did you manage to have Toyota do it?
