GR Yaris What did you do to your GR Yaris today?

If we would compare salt used vs country population and road network length, and how often it is needed to salt the roads, UK gets like what some freak occurances here and there, how often is there negative degrees for a longer while, i think Latvia would come on top anyway, as we are the RUST belt of Europe, but alas i cant find concrete numbers to influence this discussion any further :ROFLMAO:

You’d be surprised but parts of the UK will likely be gritting from October through to April. Just because there’s no snow around (assuming that’s what you consider freak) doesn’t mean that the temperatures don’t get low and it’s road surface temperature not air temperature that is important.
 
Fine, i really had no idea i would be in an argument about this today here of all places, its just that, as it is part of my work, to look for used body parts for the cars we repair, it is very rare to see a rusted car body part from UK compared to Baltic cars that are salvaged for parts. And with this i am removing myself from this convo, i guess my presumptions were wrong. 😅

Latvian winters are brutal – our roads practically eat cars alive, especially ones from Asian manufacturers like Toyota. Knowing I want to keep my Yaris for at least 3 years, I decided to take extra precautions. Some might call it overkill, but those people clearly haven’t seen what a couple of winters here can do to a relatively new car

I managed to get my timing right as I dropped off my car lastweekend to get undersealed with Bilt Hamber Dynax. The car is only 1 year and 4000 miles old. Collect it tomorrow.

GP Custom and Classic near Reading. He has done a couple of GRYs. Peters a nice guy and has a good network. Very knowledgeable guy.

It was expensive (around a grand) but it's been done properly and I don't have the capacity to do it properly myself on my drive. Spent more on the Crystal Serum Ultra coating and don't regret that at all.
 
I drove to work last week and was the first car up my frosty unsalted road in the morning. Great fun. This car is so capable and predictable on slippery stuff, as long as you turn the ESC fully off as that spoils all the fun.

I don’t know what I could ever replace it with that would be so fun and capable all year round but also so easy to live with and reliable (apart from a Mk 2 of course). 3.5 years in and I’m still loving it.

Yeah such a generous offer! My last car I didn’t really play with but after 4 years I knew this time round that I wanted to do intake and exhaust (and possibly suspension) so the timing couldn’t have been better.

A nice setup they had and you cannot fault the product they are a work of art and it sounds so good. And a nice bunch of friendly staff to go with it.

My other half has family nearby so I’d quite happily drop it off for work with them in the future.
 
I finally got around to doing a track day with my GRY with Kumho V730 tyres fitted.

Really impressed with their performance and consistent behaviour in very hot weather. They inspire confidence.
