GR Yaris What did you do to your GR Yaris today?

I went up to an area in Dalarna, 350-400km north-west of Stockholm. apart from the nice drive there and back with low amount of traffic due to holiday weekend, I got som great gravel driving in the woods there. Much fun, a lot like snowy roads..but with a large addition of rocks and gravel noice

Fitted the ruthenium HX spark plugs which arrived all the way from sunny Finland (thanks @Michael Knight!). Gaps were spot-on out the box and the car is running very smoothly now.

While doing that, noticed that the right-hand side of the bonnet was sitting a bit proud. It wasn’t like that before but I’m sure it was a coincidence that it was in the dealer for a service this week…

Anyway, a small adjustment of the rubber stop and a judicious bit of pressure to bend it back to the right profile (🙄) and it’s looking good again.

After some gentle ribbing at the hands of a couple of well-stanced Skyline owners last week, have ordered some Eibach 15 mm spacers to try and address the car's weak-ass posture :ROFLMAO:

Not a huge fan of spacers in general, but let's see.

I can see where they are coming from, albeit I am on standard wheels with no spacers. Will you be using extended studs with 15mm spacers?

Watch out you have space on the back of the wheel for the original studs if it's the type with new offset studs (Eibach is like that iirc). Otherwise longer studs are the way to go, think H&R makes a kit like that.

Decided, bit sooner than anticipated, that I'm selling mine. Full story here: https://www.gr-zoo.com/threads/hyundai-ioniq-5-n.6534/post-103295

Bit of a paradigm shift, end of ICE era and the beginning of something new!

Going to try various auction routes as the last car trying to sell privately was a nightmare, tyre kickers and no money all of them. That said, welcome to inquire in PM if not too far from Sweden...

Wil still check in now and then and see what's happening... thanks for a great 2,5 years dear Forum(members)!

I can’t believe this, I’m genuinely shocked.

I imagined that the world would have moved to teleportation and FTL interstellar personal transport, hell would have frozen over and Onehp would be be doing doughnuts all over it in his GR using the last known supply of hydrocarbons in the galaxy.

A bloody milkfloat splitter, unbelievable!

Honestly, I'm shocked too at what decisions I can make. Just had a great drive in the Yaris home too, ahwww. And I have an milkfloat device already too that is enjoyable but in a completely different manner and ultimately bores me incredibly.

There is an analogy with photography. I used to refuse zoom lenses as a terrible compromise, they didn't do anything well. I ran about with primes and changed lenses or even had two bodies. The Yaris is that sexy very short dof portrait lens that makes everyone look good, while the regular BEV is that sharp wideangle making great compositions but ultimately boring to look through.

Then something happened, massive computing power and optical models, and the latest modern zooms on the market changed the game. Both wide and tele and with unheard of large apertures and short dof while remaining uncannily sharp. Ultimately they aren't as good as a prime, and they are heavy, but the greatness lies in that you only need to bring one lens and you're more or less prepared for anything life throws at you. That modern zoomlens, which is the only lens I own nowadays, that's my new milkfloat too...

But...but...what about when you have to tow a 3 tonne trailer. At 140 km/h. To the top of Kilimanjaro. For five hours. Without stopping.

What use is your precious BEV then, eh?!

;)

Had to read twice to believe it… Objectively valid arguments, you will like it I’m sure! Continue checking in from time to time, perhaps the Mk3…. 😉
Cheers!

Thank you for all that you’ve contributed to this community and platform mate. You’ve been A1 in your knowledge & research everything GRY. We will definitely miss your presence on here. Sure you can’t keep it just in case you get the urge to hoon a real car? 😂🥹

Appreciated 😘
Plan is I still go for drives with GRY friends. Just need a Focus RS to complete the WRC team brands lineup ;)

Well I am going to miss your content along with many others.
Good luck with your EV choice. Are you getting the manual or auto version? :p
