GR Yaris What did you do to your GR Yaris today?

You shouldn’t have issues after parking for a week. Mine is often left for 2-3 weeks with no issues and is 3.5 years old.

Do you have an alarm fitted? Alternatively I had issues starting after getting to around 30,000 miles and it was the spark plugs needing changing (Toyota say 60,000 miles).
No extra alarm etc, just sat unused as I’ve had a week off work
It started here and over the supermarket but sounded slow turning over. 22400 miles at mo, I plan to change the plugs at 30k
It’s been charging two hours now and and I shall leave it on charge till 6pm.

40,000 km service, and even though I gave them 5 litres of Ravenol’s finest, when I picked it up I was presented with a bill for €873!!!

Cue a slight “discussion” on the bill.

First order of business, take off the crappy GF-5 oil they charged me for 🙄

Second, a slight query on the hours. 3.5 hours?! No, “should have been 2.3 hours, sorry” 🙄

Then the wiper blades I asked them to fit. The Bosch ones I fitted a year ago worked well but I didn’t like the way the arm sat proud of the bonnet-window line so I wanted OEM ones again. Only thing was they charged 73 feckin’ euros for them!

Bit of back and forward and we settled on €660. Still a bit more than I was expecting, but whaddya gonna do? 😁

At least that’s the brake fluid, all oils, air and cabin filters all changed before I go for a certain little trundle round the Pyrenees and Alps. C’est parfait!

Oh, and I found this one the way home, despite them being perfect when I dropped it off 🙄🙄🙄

I would start looking for a new place to go for your next service. I went for a service plan with Toyota, so if things go wrong and they don't maintain the car as per the service schedule then Toyota are responsible to repair or replace any part that has failed due to their negligence .

Regarding the battery drain problem mentioned earlier i believe theres a recall module update for it.
Never had an issue before. It was still charging when I unplugged it to go to work. Started fine, perhaps it was just me after using a motorbike rather than car for a week. Stop/start kicked in quarter of a mile from home so all must be okay
Ta tho

I’d say it’s an issue as it shouldn’t happen after 3 weeks let alone 1.

I bought a Maxton rear diffuser. I wanted a TRD one but had concerns over the quad pipe exit holes with my two single pipes.

My immediate concern is the way the top section will meet the bumper as there isn't an apparent securing point. There are a couple of screws for the bottom, but no clips.

Initial verdict, packed by Maxton in a box that's too small for the product so it was protruding out of the box, thankfully it's not chipped. Against the quality of my TRD front splitter / side sills, I'll try and be kind..... it's adequate. I hate the Maxton badge so that will be wrapped. You get the feeling it's not a company that does it for love or accuracy. The instructions are f*****g pitiful. Unlikely I'll ever buy from them again.

This week saw some parts from my last GRY and some new ones find their way onto my '23 model.
  • 9.5 x 18 Bola B1s
  • Eibach lowering springs
  • Powerflex torque mount insert
  • Powerflex front and rear camber bolts
  • Hunter alignment for the fast road set up
  • TRD front strut brace
  • Eventuri intake
  • Akrapovic exhaust and link pipe
I think I'll leave it there for now, unless I can find a deal on the TRD splitter and skirts.

Got the old girl MOT’d today, on her third birthday. It passed with just advisories on tyre wear. Looks like my fronts are scrubbing on the inside edge a bit so should probably get my geometry looked at. Also had the 6 month safety check whilst it was there so £140 altogether. Tax is now £190 a year too so it’s getting fairly expensive to run with the insurance and petrol now I’m commuting in it.

All worth it though, I can’t believe it’s been 3 years, I still enjoy almost every drive. Even when I’m stuck in traffic I think about how much fun it will be to let it off its leash at the first opportunity.

Gave it a wash a couple of days ago, and its older sibling that I’ve just got up and running again after a winter of being dead due to a kaput body control module. That has its MOT booked tomorrow.

2 year service with 18000 km done by my mechanic for CHF 280. A young JDM guy who has already worked in his father's garage and understands the passion for Japanese cars.
Where did you go for your service ? French part of Switzerland ?
