GR Yaris What did you do to your GR Yaris today?

So 2 weeks ago I went to north Weald for a drivers day and first run and reduced power. Kept happening every other run. With fault code flagging boost sensor which is a common failure apparently.

Cleaned my MAF at the same time as symptoms pointed to boost sensor, vacuum leak or MAF.

I checked all hoses but couldn’t see anything and after cleaning the MAF still some rough running. On running the car today to check something must have moved a bit more as straight away I could feel rushing air by the intake.

And voila

Hose had popped off the clamp for the intercooler. So tomorrow’s job is can I do it without taking the front bumper off!
Build quality on these facelifts, eh? 🙄😂

Finally, after much deliberation, I opted for and fitted the TRD front splitter and side skirts to compliment the Tom's rear Spoiler and Bumper Vents. (Thank you GT4 Play)

Very pleased with the overall result, fit and finish.

Also got the car detailed by Divine Detail so it looks all shiny and new once again after 4 years ownership and 34,000 miles.

Just in time then for a trip to the Nurburgring next week with Circuit Days and Lem.

The colour of those wheels is absolutely gorgeous.....what is it?

Curbed my wheel last month and got it deliverd at Toyota Økern here in Oslo for new wheels in front and a new BBS with and an alignment. GOT a ID3 from Hertz……After testing it a bit I must say I really miss my GR.

The ID3 must be one of the worst cars I have ever drived. It feels heavy, the brakes are mushy. Changing lanes makes the weight shift in the car feel like a boat! Drives like this one makes it totally clear that I really love my GR Yaris!! 😍

I've said elsehwere that the one thing that stood out when switching to SportContact 7 from MPS4S was the initial turn-in had more 'bite'.

If the Pirelli can improve on that again then hats off.
These Pirelli’s are way better than PS4S. Turn in has way more bite, grip is excellent. Not drove conti sportcontact7 so can’t really compare to that but these pz5 for me feel a step above ps4s. Only thing to see next is how they wear.

How do they feel steering wise? Tyrereviews said something about the steering going a bit light near the limit. Do you feel the same thing on your Yaris? I'll have to replace my Sport Contact 7 sometime soon and have been considering giving these a spin given that the price is more or less the same. It's a bit of a difficult choice given that these tyres are within 1% of each other and the choice seems to depend more on personal preference instead of being an easy objective one.

Fantastic job, one of the coolest GRYs I saw so far, congrats.
And couldn't help notice the "Special Editions" WRC stickers on both sides... ;)

They feel pretty good steering wise to me. Can't really say I have pushed to the limit yet though, just a bit of spirited drive around an industrial estate and maximum attack around a few roundabouts :D I think with either the Conti or Pirelli you are on to a winner, easier to find and both a better cost than PS4S.

After upgrading my speakers, I decided to go one step further and fit an Alpine PWD-X5, which is an all-in-one 4 channel amp and under seat subwoofer with DSP so I can tweak the EQ.

Added terminals to the Alpine wiring so it would plug directly into the factory connector that used to go to the ESE/ANC module under the driver’s seat.

Pretty pleased with the results with no cable splicing or irreversible changes.
Great stuff 👍
Could you share the pin-out/matching wires for the PWD-X5 against the GRY factory connector??
Any tips (e.g what sort of wire terminals have you used) appreciated. Cheers :)

Attended for the 3rd time now a safety course @ Anneau du Rhin yesterday. These days are always fun; it gave the Cup 2‘s the rest.. 🥳

Hi, I put a thread together about it here, and totally forgot about it.

There’s a link in there to Magnus’s original thread that has all the pin outs. I think it was all pretty self explanatory, the main thing is getting terminals that are small enough to sit side by side. I bought a box of assorted ones and think I ended up using the smallest ones in the pack. But it was over a year ago, and many beers have been drunk since then… 🙃

Picked up some bimecc d70 wheel nuts this week to test. These are 21mm hex compared to 19mm like most wheel nuts with shank. Meaning I can use the Toyota kit in boot to remove a wheel if needed. Evo corse ones they replaced were getting rusty. Also cleaned up the axle thread and nut and gave it a coating of Tectyl as I’m running no centre caps.
