Like you say it's Toyota GB that messed this up. I can't agree that it wouldn't have been fair had they offered the GR86 to previous buyers of the Gt86 before it went on general sale. Its a limited edition after all. To not show some sort of loyalty to previous buyers is disappointing to say the least. I for one will not be buying another Toyota if this is the way they treat previous customers.

They don’t owe anyone anything, you paid for a product that you obviously got enjoyment from, why should that put you first in line for the new model? That’s the way Rolex and Porsche work and some people look at them with utter contempt.

Coming from an 18 plate GT86 Pro, daily driven.
My love for the car started before I even owned one during university, my final year project was to take a Mercedees F1 Powertrain Engineer's supercharged BRZ and recreate it for a driver in the loop simulator, it was super fun to drive, which got me thinking and 2 years after graduating I got myself one.
I absolutely adore it, but there are small gripes with the car that the GR86 resolves. The much reduced torque dip half way through the rev range, a significant bump in power (horsepower in reality is 180bhp, where as the GR86 is above the stated power around the 240-250bhp range). Also the additon of android auto is a big plus for me, I know I could replace the head unit but I hated how it looked with the spacer required which looked cheap and tacky in my oppinion. Even the little things, not being able to answer a call via the steering wheel because the button on the wheel is blanked out!
There is no other car in the market that fits the bill for me, its the perfect blend of fun and practicality, I've managed to get a double bed and mattress in the back helping my friend move!

A 2017 Peugeot 208 Gti by Peugeot Sport. One of only 400 'ish in the country! And I am not sure that I want to sell it.
I am hoping that the GR86 will give similar performance, probably better, but with a softer ride. The hard suspension of the Peugeot is difficult to live with on the roads around here. But, it is the handling that makes the Peugeot car that it is... compromise, compromise..
I am looking forward to a test drive of the GR86 to help me decide.

I’m changing from a Golf GTi I’ve owned from new for about 7 years. It should have gone to its next owner last June when I was trading it in for a GR Yaris.
After the GR Yaris arrived at the dealer damaged I reluctantly let it go and bought a 2nd hand MX-5 with the residual and now have that and the GTi.

My GT86 (about 10 years ago) was replaced by a Volvo V60 Polestar (3.0 6cyl 350bhp, huge turbo, Brembo brakes, Ohlins dampers, all the options), which in turn was replaced by an Alfa Giulia Veloce. I sold this late last year when the used price had gone crazy (finance cleared plus ££££££) with nothing to replace it with straight away. Thought about switching to EV and looked at a few used cars and then a neighbour of a colleague from work was selling his car as giving up driving. So I'll be leaving a £1250 2003 Mercedes C200 Kompressor, with a full service book, less than 90k miles, and rare for this model, very little rust.
Hey I'm thinking about buying a Veloce. Been watching loads of review videos. What would it be like going from a gt86 to a veloce? Obviously bigger car but what about handling. Never had an Alfa and always thought they had a dodgy reputation regarding reliability but I think they have a 5yr warranty now. Any thoughts?

No question about the reliability - it's my third Alfa and they've all been perfect. Never let me down. As for handling, it is superb. Such direct steering and pretty quick too. They did come with a package (just after I got mine) of five year warranty, five year breakdown cover and three years servicing, but I think it's gone back to three year now.

I've just had to put the C-class through it's MoT and then fitted a set of all season tyres - it was only supposed to be a stop-gap until my *new* car arrived
