I’m sure many will say it’s over the top, but the inner child in me is curious- what mods have been made to achieve this noise?

Of course, I am definitely not considering doing this to my car as I’m far too mature 😬

From the video comments it’s seems eventuri intake is one, exhaust is another (what brand/cat/decat/res/non-res etc is it?), stock ECU?

Is the owner on here even?

Any info/best guesses on setup is appreciated

I’d prefer to limit myself to bolt on mods as opposed to ECU tunes, maps etc

this video made me research about blow off and recirculation a few days ago, for stustustu sounds the air will have to go back to the turbo for it to be chopped by the blades.
If I had to make an educated guess, owner did work to make sure that the turbo exhaust gases doesn't recirculate back to the turbo inlet nor vented into atmoshpere, but straight back into the turbine.

I think you're getting confused about how a turbocharger works. The exhaust gases exiting the turbine don't go back into anywhere, just out of the tailpipe.

Like I said, this car has the electronic blow off valve disabled using an aftermarket ECU. What you're hearing is the air that's under pressure in the charge pipes escaping back through the compressor after the throttle has been closed, whereas on a standard car it would be dumped (or "recirculated") almost silently into the inlet pipe, pre-compressor.

Is there any benefit to this or indeed negatives?

I would think there is an increase in mechanical strain, given the air is escaping back through the compressor, which I suppose is designed to do the opposite. No idea about the scale of strain/energy though.

I like the noise, but I wouldn’t want to significantly increase wear in the turbo. If it were minor increase in wear and tear I’d be happy, but not if it were significant. Quantifiably, I don’t think we’ll ever know.

If an ECU tune/replacement is required to achieve this (as suggested), it goes beyond where I’m comfortable in terms of mods anyway, as I intend on keeping the warranty to the 10 years.

My dealer said they were happy with individual bolt ons- so aftermarket exhaust invalidates the exhaust part of the warranty which seems fair/sensible.

Under that logic, ECU would invalidate engine warranty which is the singular thing I’m most concerned about keeping valid. But I am a child and like silly noises, can’t have it all 🤣

Yes, as mentioned extra stress/fatigue on the compressor wheel especially but a failure still pretty unlikely in reality. Performance wise it will add more lag, due to the turbo speed dropping excessively. Again though, with modern turbos and these engines being especially good at reducing lag, it's still not a big concern.
