I had an update the other day to say they were still waiting for info from someone.
Either way I go back to what I said earlier, when in the last 30 years did a new car not have an alarm as standard. Makes you wonder what else there is missing that we don't know about, we would all be oblivious to this if it wasn't for someone querying it.

The cynic in me detects the distinct whiff of them knowing it hasn’t and that they’re now having conversations about how to deal with yet another deviation from listed spec with least amount of customer anger coming their way.
I will be driving it in all weathersSame here dude. November 21st was my latest update when I enquired by email. I can’t use the App for tracking as I no longer have any orders showing (Tech are meant to be looking into it), so I’m relying on the TOL team to update me. So far they haven’t and I’ve been the one ‘pulling’ information.
By the time the GR86 arrives Scotland will be into Winter and I’ll not be driving it.

Agreed. They are working on a damage limitation exercise and how best to minimise the cost to them. This is my first Toyota and you know what they say about making a first impression.

A surprisingly careless error, totally out of line with their usual impeccable attention to detail...Be even more convinced if Toyota could spell 'Equipment'

Weight saving innit.
Plus easier to leave the dog in without trying to work out how to disable the sensors.

Our 2005 Suzuki Ignis Sport had no alarm. My friend bought a brand new VW UP! In 2014 which had no alarm but that was a basic car. Didn't even have central locking.
Weird thing is the GR86 will beep at you like an alarm if you get out and shut the door with the car switched on without the engine on.

Isn’t that more to do with potential unwanted battery discharge (and subsequent non-starting) for the car?
Interesting didn't know that about those cars. But if I was being cruel I would say Suzuki and VW knew those cars were never going to be nicked

I followed those instructions and nothing happened. Couldn't get the alarm to trigger or activate (if it is there)Have people tried this on the GR86 -

I am still waiting an update, the silence is deafening and telling. I am sure if there was an alarm I would have had a response within a day "yeah of course there is an alarm this isn't the 1980s"
I had 2 GT86's and they both had factory fitted alarms as my dog was always setting it off. Also when sometimes giving it a clean I would accidentally lock it when touching the door handle. If the boot was open the alarm would then sound on the Gt86 after getting a few warning bleeps. On the GR86 when doing the same thing it just locks the doors and doesn't even warn you that the boot is still open. It's a bit weird that they've ommited an alarm after it being standard on the previous generation 86.
Did the GT86 have the ultrasonic sensors?
Yup, they were quite prominently visible on the inside of the A-pillars.

This I suspect is the reason for dragging heels. I wonder if a legal department, which are notoriously slow have been asked how the hell this is communicated to customers who may through no fault of their own be driving around with invalid insurance.
