I have a plate on retention I could use, P4 YCY.

1st world problem being its now a banking app name, or a rock band, it was meant to ’suggest‘ pace y or going at a rate of knots. 🤣

If any of you are out and proud, there’s a load of G4Y ?? On DLVA at £250, so G4YME etc 🤨

Well I've just purchased one, so I'd better update my own poll!

It's car-related, quite subtle, and heavily inspired by @Dal3D 's rationale for the Focus RS plate, so thank you for the inspiration sir!

'Only' 250 quid too, and I was very pleasantly surprised to see no VAT, admin, DVLA fee, nor anything else added!

I also didn't realise I have TEN YEARS to add it to a car.
Starts a Poll ✅ buys plate ✅ keeps number secret ❌ I’m guessing L00 TNT 🤔

Just found a guy on insta that’s budding rock star called…. Paycy, so asked him if he wants my old plate.

So - for me and any other private plate virgins - now that I have bought a plate, what are the next steps?

Is it pretty straightforward? I assume I'll receive the paperwork/certificate in the next week or three.

Can I then simply apply the plate to my car using the internet in the comfort of my own home whilst wearing my premium sleepwear?

1st step : Tell us what you bought 🤷‍♂️😂😂😂

Yes. All online now and your V5 will be in the post. As soon as it's confirmed online remember to phone your insurer.

And if you had an MOT that's online too so will update automatically

You called?

To be fair, I imagine there would be quite a few as there aren’t many gay men that are in to cars.
It seems that I am the only gay [petrolhead] in the village!

Although I can’t imagine myself buying one of these haha.

Don't forget to actually get some plates made up! I got mine from here.

I bought this for mine originally but it ended up on the Yaris...tempted by a matching one now 🤦‍♂️

Spoke to TOL today about private plates and if you have one they will still make the plates up for you, you don't need to supply your own unless you really want to. They also said there is a backlog due to staff shortages at DVLA so getting paperwork to prove you have a private plate (if you're in the process of getting one or going to get one) and it may take up to 6 weeks to get the docs so anyone with a car on a boat need to sort a plate sooner rather than later if you are thinking of getting one. They also asked if I wanted to delay until 1st March if it arrives sooner, I said yes as I am incredibly vein and want to annoy the neighbours :p

So my V750 has just arrived, which was a pleasant surprise - I was expecting a delay due to the recent week-long DVLA staff strikes.

A general plate-related question - are existing plates (which are stuck rather than screwed on - and of course recently applied) generally easy to remove?

Is any equipment (e.g. dental floss, hairdryer for warming/softening purposes) advisable?
