Why shouldn't they? It's only ever been forum speculation that they won't.

Yes very much this. Toyota UK don’t know the answer to that themselves. I believe there’s an annual meeting around Jan/Feb where it’s discussed by Toyota HQ down to Toyota UK and dealers what’s coming to the UK for that year.

But all signs at the moment are suggesting no more (for now…….)

Because why would they not just keep the order book running like every other manufacturer or even Toyota themselves on other products. A but coincidental that we’re coming to the end of the original planned 25,000 and so much weight is placed on one comment that suggested more might be made if demand is there.

The real answer is no one knows but dealers should not be taking money for what is a free waiting list that has also now closed.

... but I'm going to anyway. Order books were running away from Toyota, supply couldn't keep up with demand and waiting times were extending, getting to what? 18 months? 2 years? Then add the GR Corolla to the mix and a whole new hungry market to feed (USA), the Motomachi plant wouldn't stand a chance. If Toyota do have 5000 people on the waiting list, that would be another 5000 orders they would have to fill if they allowed them to be placed, that's just one market.

The whole 25k makes sense, but messages from Toyota suggest they want to reinforce and build the GR brand, that they have no intention to ditch ICE and then there are the rumours of an auto GRY, that goes against that sentiment. Also that 25k, is a minimum limit, not maximum, they don't have to stop. The only reason they would stop is if it wasn't profitable.
 
I guess to add to that. Toyota were producing around 9,000 cars a year at the factory of which it is believed half were the Japan only RS. The new Corolla they are targeting 6,500 in year 1.

The bit not known is if they’re using the same line as the GRY.

Isn't one reason that they can't start production of the GRC until the GRY line is clear?
 
Who knows, but we know the GRY isn't built like a conventional massed produced car, it's resembles more towards the hand-built market, which no one can churn out quickly. I don't think they will pull the plug on the GRY, but it doesn't mean that they won't in Europe.

I wouldn't be surprised if it's red tape and contracts with Toyota Europe.

As far as I know all European Corollas are made in Burnaston and it's likely the GR Corolla, which is more specialised will be made at Motomachi in Japan.
This all goes out of the window of course when you look at the standard Yaris, which is made in France! :LOL:

Also and this is just my thoughts but if Toyota deliver the last of the cars in feb and then turn round and say no more are coming, all those holding out hope for a new car might go used and suddenly that 150 on autotrader are in demand. And that wait list is over 1,000 people so all you need is 10% of those on the lists to buy used for stock to drop.

Why dont you call the dealer and ask for your order number as they took the deposit.
One dealer I contacted wanted £500 to put my name on their cancellation list though and I declined the offer.
 
Right. So.

I chatted to Toyota online yesterday, they said that me being 493 in the queue is very promising, they're not sure when they're going to open the order book again, i wont speculate on that, but he said that 493 is a low number and that i can be optimistic.

then Toyota online contacted my dealer and they hashed out what the deal was on my car and told me about my situation, but on Monday or Tuesday one of the salesmen at that dealer let slip to me that there was a GR circuit coming in sometime in the middle of January and the guy had cancelled their order. so i asked if i could get that car, and after some confirming with Toyota UK they said i could get that one instead. So I'm getting a car and its arriving in January sometime!

Thats great news it pays to be a pain in the arse looks like the dealer got backed into a corner, no dubt they would have put that one up for a premium had you not got Toyota involved.

See if they can hold it until March 1st for one of a very few 23 plate GRY's.
 
I'm simply on the waiting list for the reserve queue for the waiting list.

Considering that getting to the order stage might still result in a 12-18 month for the car, I'm glad I picked up one ex dem back in Feb.

All seems a bit hard to no what will happen, but given the number on a waiting list Toyota would be mad not to ‘revise’ the list price, blaming an increase in parts / production cost, surely? They would surely sell them all at £39,995, no problem?
 
if they forget to take me off the waiting list and i get offered another car ill just make an account on a fiesta ST forum and see if anybody there wants it...
 
They wouldn’t even tell me what number I was on the list so that gives me as much hope as bob.

I reckon if they do make anymore they will certainly be closer to the £40k mark.
