GR Yaris The Latest on GR Yaris (UK waiting list)

When you say ‘placed the order’ do you mean added your name to the waiting list?

Or do you have an actual order number?
Late july the book had closed. The fact he has a position on the waitlist implies he doesn't have an order.

My only thoughts on the allocation list is... if some countries don't sell out, which... it sounds like you can still order in some places... maybe those will head towards pre-order lists. Or have all the lists fully closed now?

You can get that £500 back as you’re only on a waiting list. No order has been placed.

I'd rather have a car thanks... I spoke to the dealer i did all this through yesterday and he seems pretty convinced that I'm getting a car. he wasn't looking for order numbers but actually looking at the next few weeks worth of deliveries, which my name obviously wasnt on because its not 2023 yet

Here's an open question, on autotrader alone there are 125 circuit, 9 GR, 3 convenience pack cars for sale, some are 2nd hand used with a few thousand miles, others are nearly new for a premium, that seems a lot for sale in a short space of time since they were released? I presume for most people it was a fun toy that they wanted to be the first and now onto the next thing, I guess Im a bit surprised at the turnover? Any thoughts, just a question for a Friday :-)

Maybe he’s looking to put you in a cancelled order (not that he’s allowed to do that) you would still remain on the waiting list with your £500 back with you as no money is required to be on that waitlist.

Just to keep you level headed, you are 400+ on the waiting list so your dealer is suggesting that more than 400+ new cars will be allocated to the UK in 2023 which is more news than any other dealership or Toyota UK have.

Ill let you decide if you believe the dealer and his tactics ;)

People with more money than sense, then you see modified cars for sale with thousands spent with under 1,000 miles on the clock! This is what happens when a car appeals to Porsche owners ;)

My JY3 order still showing as 10th November...

Just wish I had the financial opportunity to keep the darn thing :(

Do you mind sharing what dealership you've put £500 down with?

The first cars started being delivered 2 years ago (!) and any owners who got 0% PCP now have a balloon payment to cover or finance.
Also it's just not that much of a rare car.

Have you had any more communication from your dealer now that the car has been removed from the configurator?

nothing. the guy at the dealer i speak to is always super nice, but i think hes beginning to get annoyed with me calling. last time he told me that the next piece of communication either of us (myself and him, the dealer) will get will be toyota telling me a build date.

the last piece of relevant info i got from them was that mass email we all got on the 31st may saying where i was on the waiting list and that they'd contact me in early 2023 about an update... I'm trying to be patient but my goodness, i'm starting to get itchy fingers, used m2's are beginning to look very tempting

I’ve said it before but you’re unlikely to get a new car from Toyota UK I’m afraid and the dealer is spinning BS at you whilst holding £500 of yours that is not a requirement to be on the wait list.

We’re around 3 months away from the last cars being delivered with no new order book in sight and Toyota UK removing most references to the Yaris from their website.

As you’re looking at used M2’s thought about a used GRY?

Completely agree with what you are saying Robin but what I can’t fathom is why Toyota don’t just come out and say that’s it.

Then everyone on the wait list can move on to a different brand or buy one of the 150 odd used GRY’s on the market.
