While we are waiting what plans have you for your GR86 when you get it , and I’m confident we all will 👍

Post your thoughts here , I’m sure some folk who’ve owned the GT86 will have some pretty good ideas on what works and what to avoid.


GR86 - What are your plans for the GR86?

While we are waiting for our cars to arrive I’m sure most folk will be making plans for some goodies for the new arrival, mine will be an Ignition Red 6AT, after managing to change colour from Electric Blue. I’m expecting this may be my last ICE car so looking at it as a longterm keeper...

I guess you're talking about mods, but not really my thing. What's the running in mileage where you stay <4000 rpm? I'll be thinking of a few road trips - NC500, friend in Dordogne, trip to Alps.

Mods or just plans in general, feel free to share on that thread. I’m fortunate that the NY Moors are close by so any excuse to get up that way will do for me 👍

I plan to keep mine low-milage and stock, but maybe with a dealer-fitted duckbill if available. All miles and mods going on my Hilux! ;)
 
As the self-appointed resident German configuration expert (!), there are some fun options available through the official Toyota configurator in Germany...

You can get a different front bumper (I hesitate to call it a front splitter, but I suppose that's what it is), more aggressive sideskirts and a different rear apron. The duckbill rear spoiler is a 449 EUR option, but apparently only on certain colours (not white).

I don't know if these are factory-fit or dealer retro-fit, but you can also get a lovely set of GR 'livery' transfers, and some racing stripes and side decals.

I've tried to show these in the pictures attached to this post.

The delay/confusion allowed me to amend my choice.
contacted my Toyota dealer and requested a manual instead of Automatic. Absolutely nothing against automatic’s but decided to go manual with this car. Will miss the extra’s the automatic comes with.
Colour still black.
Just have to change my user name now - maybe to ‘Al stalled at the lights’ ….

I’ve an order awaiting to be placed with my dealer when he can, same chap I got our GR Yaris from. Have ordered a white Manual. Really fancied Sapphire Blue but the colour seems to hide lots of the lines the car has.
 
Evening all,

Literally just signed up to the forum on the train home, so hiiiiiiiiiii.

I rang Toyota in Romford, Essex , this morning and put a grand deposit down on a manual in pearl white.
Am going to the showroom in Friday to run through finance deals and the order process ect...

Quick question - if i firm the order up on Friday morn, do I pay the rest of the deposit there and then or wait till an arrival date is given? Just curious.

Will be seriously gutted if no duckbill, I thought it looked fantastic in the early photos. Danger of there being a crying 49 year old in the showroom on Friday 😆
 
Evening - had a £500 holding deposit with my local dealer since January - went in today, gave them my options, manual / electric blue, and he would place the order with Toyota tomorrow when the order book opens up. Should get a confirmation e-mail tomorrow as well.
Said I could decide PCP vs bank loan over the next couple of months.
Pretty excited - first sports car and first ever brand new purchase.

New to the forum but I've been following this thread closely for the past week.

I put my £500 deposit down at the Rayleigh dealership on Saturday morning for a manual GR86 in Electric Blue (poll updated). I was told I was their first customer to put a deposit down on one, but they are a non-GR dealership and there are a few in the vicnity. It will be my first brand new and first proper sports car, so really looking forward to it.

I also watched the Japanese video linked here earlier before placing the order and think it best showcases what you can expect the UK cars to look like, as they use the same colour codes, which look to be slightly different to the American ones. It was a tough choice for me between Electric Blue and Ice Silver, in the end I went with that one that would feel that bit more special on the road.

Fingers crossed the weekend online orders will not affect allocation of those who placed a deposit in person and all of us get our cars in July.
