GR Yaris The EcuTek thread

So bare with me, I'm still learning on this one as it only got loaded at 4:48 yesterday afternoon,... Here is an extract of some of the data that was on show: View attachment 27356
Ok look forward to more knowledge building, looks like 12Hz logging which is just about usefull to diagnose driveability issues, maybe it's possible to reduce the number of PIDs recorded and get speed up if you know what you're looking for.

A list of things it can log based on the output file I've just downloaded:

If all of those are actively registering and recording makes this a proper tool.

The one to keep an eye on for IC performance is Turbocharger Intake Air Temperature BTW

Thank you, I'll set it up for this then. Supposedly you can build custom 'dashboards in your phone' then hang it on a phone holder to review real time data. This was an example they showed somewhere on their website. You select the metrics you want and drag and drop into the dash space. You can build multiple screens for different views.

very nice! if they could support the Tyre TPMS data also for pressures and heat it would be perfect.

One Q, is the Litchfield dongle just a stylised EcuTek or is it somehow locked to Litchfield?

In the settings my dongle is linked in to Litchfield, I guess so they see all the version control history and get the log files directly without the user being at the mercy of trying to link to their servers.

I'd imagine a call to the Ecutek HQ could move it to another tuner if you change.

I told them the mods that were on my car, then they emulated it with their own car and did some dyno runs. Of course it's not the same as having the actual car on the dyno, but it saved me a 6 hour round trip, and what they can offer is once you have run the base file for a bit, you run some logs, post the figures back and then they read the log files and amend and reupload the map according to how the car is performing (or not) based on your mods or changes. Also if the local Toyota dealer over writes the map with an update you can just reupload it from your phone. That is a brown trouser moment as when you upload the map using the phone you get about 8-10 error messages on the digital panel between the clocks, but then the app runs a DTC clearance procedure to clear the codes and you're good to go
Great feedback. Kind of sums up what I felt about mine. It was really good but more gain up top. Just booked mine in. I’ll take it over to them and we’ll see how that compares. Let me know how the standard intercooler performs please.

Quick question. How long does it normally take Litchfield to send over a base tune file? Received my EcuTek remote flasher dongle and connected it up via the app but there’s no files on there yet booooo! so have filled in my vehicle details and pinged back a response…

Really wanted to go for a spin and get the datalogging done today. Oh well

It's adequate for race map in spring/autumn / winter road use (sub 10 degrees), but I'd wager on a summers day of 25+ degrees C the ECU might start pulling back a bit as it's boosty

Your job goes into a queue. I got in very early so was fairly high up in the order. I'm not sure how big the queue of works is, but it may be worth calling Litchfield service team on option 2 on Monday. Map takes a few minutes to transfer over, then about 5-10 mins to upload.

If your car is already mapped you have to map a stock base file on first, then the tuned map.

Cheers! I vaguely remember Adam I think it was saying once a response from the app is received he’ll get a file ready and in the meantime asked what mods I already have (Legamax and Eventuri). I’ll give them a call Monday to check. In the meantime I’ve removed the DTUK and the 100 cable ties I seemingly used…

The dev works looks to be contuning this weekend. Whereas mine is in the 340's, this car with cams / valve springs / IC etc. is posting nearly 380 which is distractingly tempting.

Their figures seem optimistic, 250whp as mentioned on the previous page for their stage 1 means this would be about 290-300whp with similar drivetrain losses. Annoys me a bit when companies crop the whp figures out.

The tunes themselves are probably great to drive with but i'm not sure about the claimed crank figures.

Wish companies wouldn't say this. They know they've had issues as has just about every other tuner

IAT quite high so correction not unreasonable.

So that's interesting, the new graph has lower drivetrain losses than the stage 1 graph. Just goes to show you can't just scale up losses when you add power as - as a % - the new car has lower losses despite more engine power. See a lot of places just add a blanket 20% but that clearly can't be applied here.

I also had a quick chat with Matteo and he's said they've also seen approx 380bhp with similar hardware so it does look achievable which honestly has surprised me a bit, I thought these were maxed out around 350bhp going back to the early Syvecs days. I guess times really have moved on
