GR86 "That's a fresh whip bruv"; or the Toyota GR86 collated feedback thread

On Saturday though, I had someone shout a load of abuse at me as I drove past - to be honest I could really tell what he was saying but had a distinctly unfriendly look about him, and there was a definitely a 'f*cking' in the middle of it...
We often get that in Scotland no matter what time of day. Walking through an area of Falkirk some time back, this bloke staggered past me, held up his cigarette and declared “Cannabis Resin! F*ck Aye!”. I smiled and continued at a brisk pace 😟

Terms of endearment north of the wall 😁

My guesses - got to be one of only two things really let's all be honest here:

1. "No f**king alarm - can't believe it!"
2. "Nowhere to hang your f**king jacket"

We had a suprising amount of posetive feedback at Snetterton a the tail end of Feb, I was there with a friend in a GT86, and another GR86.
People seemed really interested in the differnce between the GT and GR, and all agreed that the GR is a very handsome beast.

I stuggle with the "is it fast" thing. I come from Supras and and M3, so I don't think it is really, but everything is reletive, it probably is compared to the average car on the road

Probably? Although something like an M3 is capable of being faster, you'd have to be going stupid speeds on our little roads to be quicker than the 86 can go.

Using that logic point to point my old company 118d M sport was faster.. It was of comparative size, had more grip, and most importantly, wasn't mine. - but thats irrelevant when people ask "is it fast".

Stopped at Birchhanger services earlier today while coming down the M11. As I was getting back in the car, a Z3 went past and the passenger was craned around in his seat with his phone out, taking either a photo or video.

I got back in the car and somehow beat him back onto the M11 south, as he overtook me again in the outside lane a few minutes later...again, passenger had his phone out taking a photo. Gave them a quick flash of the headlights as they passed. I was having an awful drive, teeming rain and huge delays making me worrying about getting to the airport on time...that raised my spirits a little :)

Was driving the scenic route home this afternoon and a trio of bikers were coming the other way, the first biker put his arm out
pointing to the car and the third biker gave me a nod! As a biker too I know that was a term of endearment for my choice of 4 wheels! 🤣

Was driving through Leamington Spa, where I always see a few Aston Martins driving around. Feels like all the staff from Gaydon get to take one home to try out the amount I see driving around. Anyway, today I was at a set of traffic lights, one Aston Martin in front, another behind, both with “prototype vehicle” stickers on them. The passenger in the car behind was clearly taking photos with his mobile of my “pound shop gt3”!

That sir would be me 😉 and have been testing the DB12 for some time.

I hadn't seen an 86 in dark blue hence why I was taking a pic and I did try to get the DB in front in the shot but the opportunity was lost when we approached the lights.

It was a left hooker hence my view in the photo.

The DB12 is superb and a monster in Sport+ mode 😁, but it is quite a wide vehicle for the narrow local streets.

Took the 86 for our weekly food shop today (weather was lovely so thought it deserved a run). Pulled into the car park and was followed in by a guy driving a newish Suzuki Vitara. I pulled up in a space at the far end of the car park miles from anyone else and the guy in the vitara made his way over on foot with his wife and teenage kids following and said “hey mate, I had to come over and say that is a wicked car”…..to which I replied “ah thanks”. I was beaming…..my wife embarrassed 😃

Pulled in to Tesco to top up with ‘momentum’ after my sunny east coast outing. Bloke behind me also filling up said “That is absolutely beautiful mate”.
I thanked him, agreed and shared the fact I’d just popped out for a coffee - 3 hours ago! 😄
