I was faffing about in the drive with my GR86 earlier today, and a delivery representative from a well-known courier company delivering to a neighbour popped over to give me his views as quoted in the thread title. I am sufficiently poly-cultural to recognise this as positive feedback, and responded in kind with appropriate appreciation.

I am wondering - what feedback - solicited or unsolicited; positive or negative - have you received about your car?

In addition to the above, whilst giving the car a quick wash last week a group of older/senior walkers passed, and one gentleman stopped for a chat. He wanted to know if the car was "as good to drive as everyone says", and expressed admiration for the looks.

Finally, I received an enthusiastic wave/thumbs up combo from a GR Yaris driver whilst on the move heading in the same direction on a dual carriageway.

That's it for me so far - what about your good selves?

Lady next door: "Oooh is that a Celica?"

Bloke in the Humber Bridge toll booth: "Are you enjoying your car Sir?" (fortunately not followed by "does she go Sir? Is she a go-er? Ooh suits you Sir")

I've also noticed Type Rs and the like closing rapidly as I've been pootling along at 68mph on a dual carriageway and they slow down when alongside to have a look.

That reminds me actually - I've had a new-shape Fiesta ST pull up alongside and have a good old nose, whilst I was doing similar pootling.

I’ve been convincing my wife for the last 8 months that this is a real drivers car and is recognised as such and admired by like minded individuals to me.

First time she came for a drive with me a pair of these “like minded chaps” introduced themselves to me with a honk and lowered window. They proceeded to give me the compliment of “smart car mate” while gawping in their baseball caps from their lowered MK4 golf (not sure it was even a GTI) with smoked lights and the full monty exhaust.

Needles to say she reminds me of this frequently.

Watched a car drive down my road a few days ago and the passenger took a photo on his phone as he passed. I should take it as a compliment, but I have to admit, I was immediately paranoid that they were scoping it out to steal it.

Nothing really. Boss was telling people on some of his calls I'd finally got a new car (became a running joke because of the delays) and how he thought it looked like a cross between a Mclaren and a Lotus

The only one of note is I stopped at some lights and a boy who was probably 4 with his Dad pointed at it and you could see him say "Wow look!" That alone makes it worth it.

Showed the picture on MyT to my brother in law over xmas when I told him it was £35k (well it will be with PPF) he said he thought it would be a lot more than that.

As a GRY owner I can relate to this. Out with my wife, I saw a GR86. When I pointed it out and explained that it was a GR Toyota, closely related to my GRY, her reply was “yes but that is a proper sports car and would cost far more than yours”. I just laughed and moved on.

Similar experience. When I had my blue GT86 made a bit better looking, a c63 and a GT-R tried to race me, and my wife to be thought is was Porsche money.
Now with my GRY, she can't believe I spent so much on a little city car.
Most people are only skin deep with cars, if you like to get some nice* attention you know what to get. And what not 😂

*was never negative as with some more status brands.

PS: over here kids love a Tesla and ICE cars get mostly ignored. It's the future (but I don't like Teslas, but EVs are fine)...
