GR86 "That's a fresh whip bruv"; or the Toyota GR86 collated feedback thread

I really like that road, even though it can be quite narrow at some points. I normally do this route https://referal.roadstr.io/c0RL/agismxu8
If you ever want to do a early Sunday blast at some point let me know 🙂
Small world - I recently started a new job in Biggin Hill, and a section of your driving route there is actually now part of my new commute! Waypoints 4 - 6, after I come off the M25 J4. Google/Waze always tries to take me further along the A21 and then down one of the backroads, but although its the shortest route, it's also quite narrow and annoying to travel down at school run time. I found that adding a mile or so to got though Knockholt was less busy and it was quite a pleasant little driving road as well :) Unfortunately, it's closed all this week, so I have to go the other way again :/

Oh, and just a tip - I'd avoid the A225 from Eynsford down to Otford for a couple of weeks; that's the way I came yesterday morning, but they have just surface dressed the whole section from S-bend under the railway bridge (just after Castle Farm) down to Shoreham Station. I had to crawl along at 20mph. Had a pickup truck come blasting up behind me, I pulled over and luckily he went very wide so I didn't get blasted by gravel. They're doing a lot of surface dressing all over at the moment so I'm trying to keep a mental map of roads to avoid.

Might sign up for Roadstr, seen a few Youtubers mention it.

Yeah I had to slow down on the a225, the rocks hitting the bottom of the car was hurting me to hear 😂
From that route the highlights for me are 3 to 4, 7-8 and and 8-9 from four Elms.

RoadStr for me it’s the best route planning tool, but doesn’t work great with Apple Car play, it doesn’t center well, if you don’t know the roads it can be annoying

I had a few today too, first one was the best though, a guy in a Ferrari Dino about 100 yards from my house - I was obviously staring at his car as we passed, then looked up to see him staring at mine 😂
Bizarrely, I saw another Dino today (dark blue this time) on the M25 near the M4. I wasn't in my GR86 though, so didn't distract the driver this time.

Not the GR86 but the MX5 today, 2 young kids (6 or 7ish) crossed the road a long way ahead of me then stopped on the pavement and just stared at the car as I drove past, didn't even have the roof down (too hot) I guess it must be the rarity of small sport car shapes that caught their attention everything else on the road is just a generic fat blob faux by four. Long live the sports car!

I genuinely think half the population just go to their nearest dealership and are bowled over by the first fat blob that has a gimmick that they like.
Sadly true, a triumph of marketing above all else.

Got a torrent of abuse from a white van man for 'driving too fast' as he tried to cut across in front of my straight ahead right of way - I was only doing 30mph and speed limit was 30, so I assume that's a compliment for the car looks faster than it's actually going??!

He is obviously disgruntled cos his life hasn't worked out the way it should: All the movers and shakers have silver vans now.

Plenty of ‘love’ for the GR86 today at the Horsepower Festival (Cowdenbeath). Some were able to identify it straight away, some not, but most said “I’ve never actually seen one in the flesh before, it’s really nice!”.
One young chap went so far as to say “that rear quarter is beautiful and muscular - it looks fast even when it’s standing still”. Ladies seem drawn to the light blue too, which is always nice 😉. I’d have to agree, it’s a sexeh car! 🚙

Just say he is on film, car cam 🤣

Works for me, and always has, never had one mind👍
