What is it about Toyotas? - in my experience, they seem to all have a distinctive "smell" in the interior. Perhaps it's the plastics/glues used, or the headlining material/carpets/mats - I don't know what it is but all Toyota cars have a signature smell... (and no, it's not "Driver Generated!" ;)

Anyone else agree?

EVO Mag even commented on this smell in their EVO Car of the Year 2022 test of the GR86.....

My car smelled like burning release agent for the first hundred miles or so. Is that the smell you're talking about?

I get that plastic new car smell also. But i get it in hondas also (thats the only other new car i bought, decades ago).

It definately does not smell like new BMWs (friends car).

I didn’t notice any smell when I got mine. My Nissan on the other hand gave me a headache and made me feel sick for 2 weeks. And that was leaving the windows open on the driveway and when driving it to let the new car chemical smells out.

I used to sprint a DC2 Integra, and was driving behind one the other day; the exhaust smell took me right back!

Still trying to buy back one I sold 10 years ago.

I’ve noticed that same scent in every one of mine, and it kicks in as soon as the cabin warms up. I’ve always figured it’s the interior materials settling over time.

I’ve been using the Sea Glass spray from nothingbutscents.com in my car, and the enzyme formula really does cut through stubborn smells without leaving that heavy fake-perfume vibe. The travel size is handy to toss in a bag, and the coastal scent is fresh without being too strong. The free shipping over bigger orders was a nice bonus when I restocked.
