Hi,
Is there any tall (ish) drivers that own GT86 or GR86?
I have placed order for GR86 blind as everyone else , with only online pictures and videos for reference.
I am 6ft1 and medium build and my concern is will I fit and be comfortable in using it as a daily driver?
Also, when I take it for a track day will I fit with the helmet on?
Nearest GT86 for sale is about 200 miles from me...
Any useful info would be much appreciated.

Jason from Engineering Explained is 6'1" and complimented that car on its space in the below video, as he fit OK even with the helmet on.

Another good video, cheers 🍻

I sat in a GT-86 to try it out in March 2020, about a week before the first lockdown. I was very keen on one but strangely a third ‘toy’ car wasn’t such a pressing need when we weren’t allowed outside.

Anyway, I found it very comfortable and plenty of room and I’m 6’7”, size 13 feet. More room than an Elise (no surprise), MX-5 or S2000.

If the GR-86 has even more room that’s great news for us circus freaks.

Good to know.
I had my mind set on MX-5 mk3 (NC) with hard top few years ago. Arranged test drive for a day. I loved the car, but I was not able to find good driving position what ever I tried. Just too big for the car. Was gutted 😢

I'm 6'6" with long legs - fitted in a GT86 fine with a helmet although the steering wheel was very close to my left leg.

I'm hoping this will be better - if not I'll be fitting a stock steering wheel spacer.

I would probably invest in the GR knee pad accessory, might help with the comfort if its a daily.

Looking through American reviews, premium model c/w knee pads and base comes without. I wonder what UK spec cars are equipped with…

Also, if you want peace of mind, might be worth finding a dealer that still has a GT86 in stock and sitting inside to check it out.

The interior dimensions are more or less the same. If anything the GR86 will have slightly more head room as the seat positioning is allegedly lower than the GT.

Edit - My bad just saw the last sentence of your original post.

I'm 6ft2" and had a 1997 NA MX5 for six years and fitted reasonably ok but wanted to move to a NC. I found a stunning one owner 25th Anniversary car with the folding hard top that had only done around 2k miles but was also absolutely gutted that I just couldn't get on with it. I sourced lowering kit brackets but that would have meant cutting the seat rails so ended up selling it and sourcing a soft top NC that wasn't as nice but allowed a little bit more headroom. With the lowering kit it was actually just about spot on but not ideal for an all year round car due to the soft top.

I ended up giving up trying to make myself fit in MX5's and buying an R53 MINI which is surprisingly good for tall drivers even with a panoramic roof but I'm pretty sure that the GR86 will offer the ideal solution for me. Thankfully Toyota UK making the £1000 deposit refundable meant I could push the button in the hope that I fit with no issues.
