Scottish summer run - 21 July 2024

Hello all,

I am proposing that next Sunday, 21st July, we have a little drive out. Open to all forum members and GR types.

(If the weather is looking grim nearer the time we will reschedule for 28th July)

Route: Scottish Borders, half-day, circa 115 miles with a lunch stop at end with quick access to motorway network for getting home.

Start time: 9am.
Start location: ML3

Petrol and toilets at/near start and end points.

My preference is a Half Day (Borders) route.

By the time I’ve done lunch it’ll probably be almost tea time and then I’ll have to factor in several toilet breaks on the way home

I'm free for both dates, so if the 28th is more favourable to all (and @Alistair31 is up for the change) then happy to side with the majority.

I’m free both dates too but switching to the 28th would preclude 911sse unfortunately. So in the interest of fairness (post order) I think we keep it as the 21st. Sorry, AWB. That said, what could be more important than a GR meet…get your other arrangements cancelled

Is there any chance you could share your route after the event? I'm visiting family in Northumberland in a few weeks and would love an interesting route to follow one day, but am crap at spotting the good routes.

Weather looks set to have cleared the mainland by 0400 tomorrow. That should give me enough time to give the car a final fettling before I leave

Certainly a clearer morning here. I might just manage a (no contact) jet wash as the car is a tad grubby whilst just passing its 10k miles marker yesterday See you all later.

Found it impossible to buff mine this morning, as the temperature meant it ‘clouded over’ with mist as soon as it was wiped. Need that sun to swing round over next door’s roof!
