Yeah when I've had previous cars ceramic coated I've been advised to use a product like this after washing to maintain the hydrophobic properties as it then acts as the first sacrificial layer.I've always gone over my PPF with a finishing coat of Gtechniq C2v3 and that's always meant it continued to have some hydrophobic qualities. It also acts as a drying aid which is helpful.
it's probably my go-to bottle on my detailing shelves - love the stuff. I use it not only on the PPF bits, but the rest of the car too. It's good on glass too - but not the windscreen of course.
(rebranded as C2 now but still has a little v3 on the packaging)

C2 Ceramic Sealant - Gtechniq
Simple and fast application with extreme dirt and water repellency, up to 6 months durability.www.gtechniq.co.uk
I went to see the company that will be doing my PPF and they showed me a new Xpel film that's not been out long called Ultimate Fusion.
It's the same self healing type that Xpel have been doing for a while, but now has hydrophobic properties that are exceptional and make washing the car a complete doddle as was demonstrated to me on their own car. I'm seriously thinking about getting my GR86 100% wrapped in the stuff![]()
ULTIMATE FUSION | Hydrophobic Paint Protection Film
Get the best of both worlds. ULTIMATE FUSION PPF combines the impact resistant protection of ULTIMATE PLUS, with next-level hydrophobic performance from FUSION PLUS Ceramic Coating to deliver a PPF unlike any other.www.xpel.com

Sod it though - it's only money![]()
Not all Xpel installers can install that particular product sadly which might limit it's reach, unless you are prepared to travel for it.I went to see the company that will be doing my PPF and they showed me a new Xpel film that's not been out long called Ultimate Fusion.

Like that works on gritty B roads, or after the councils grit in the cold weather.Cheapest form of PP and absolutely free , is give the car in front plenty of space , not 100% effective but not too shabby![]()
Nothing worse than when you are driving along minding your own business and a gritter appears coming in the opposite direction and you get absolutely peppered!Like that works on gritty B roads, or after the councils grit in the cold weather.
I'm getting mine totally covered in Xpel Ultimate Fusion after we had the O/H BMW covered at the front and impact zones with it. Did have a quote for just the "track pack" to start with but thought what the hell and just get all of it done I was that impressed with the hydrophobic nature of this new film.Has anyone gotten any PPF quotes from their detailers recently?
Any thoughts on Suntek vs XPEL films?
I'm in an OK financial position with a new job starting next month but I'm struggling to justify spending £4-5k for full PPF on a £30k if I'm honest. Especially with the prospect of someone damaging it and having to replace it in the future.I'm getting mine totally covered in Xpel Ultimate Fusion after we had the O/H BMW covered at the front and impact zones with it. It's not cheap though so embarrassed to put the £ up here!
I was quoted more than that for front end and ceramic on the rest so its not too bad I guess.I'm in an OK financial position with a new job starting next month but I'm struggling to justify spending £4-5k for full PPF on a £30k if I'm honest. I've been given a £2,099 quote for XPEL full front PPF and ceramic coating package, does it sound reasonable?
£3600+vat??I was given a quote on Yiannimize the front end £1800 + VAT or Full car protection is £3600 + VAT.
Can't really justify ~ 14% of the value of the car in a PPF to be honest, but might consider the front.
I was on the fence and Reddit and GR86 Org threads of dozens of people regretting not getting it as the soft paint is susceptible to chips convinced me to get front end done.£3600+vat??
I need educating as to why this is so expensive.
And I guess it's not going to protect a car from debris large enough to cause a dent?
So when you get a dent in the bonnet it'll be hundreds to fill/repaint the bonnet, and then another grand to redo the protection?
Can you let us know after a year how it's looking?I was on the fence and Reddit and GR86 Org threads of dozens of people regretting not getting it as the soft paint is susceptible to chips convinced me to get front end done.
Will do but I’m a 10.43 order so others will probably have their car for a year before I get mineCan you let us know after a year how it's looking?
