GR Yaris Ooooo! An update!

I’ve had a bit of a weird one. Car went to ‘left the factory’ on 14/5/22 and this tallied with Virgo Leader departing Japan. I’ve been tracking that ship (sad I know) but the other day I had a quick check of the app and it had updated to being in Portbury, a good couple of weeks ahead of schedule. Today the map has updated to Derby, how reliable has the app been in the latter stages for others ?

I have asked the dealer but yet to get a reply with the bank holiday.
 
Very reliable for me mine went straight from processing order to in Derby overnight.

Mine has updated to in transit in Derby today also, due to dealer on the 22/06/22 but would hope it would be a little sooner!

It arrived on the Michigan Highway on the 27th May

We’ll that’s good news indeed. Mine is a JU49 order so must have been one of the last ones to sneak on board!

Yeah either that or someone cancelled an order and you jumped up the list!

Either way it’s a win, race on to see who gets their car first 😂

Dealer said today they usually spend a week at Derby, then about a week to drive it off the forecourt so 2 weeks hopefully!

Mine was on the same boat, and has the same ETA. Still showing as at Portbury.
Due away to work for 8 weeks on the 18th though. Argh!
Wonder if they'd let me collect from Derby. Could have it home within 48h of them saying yes to that...
 
Some good news from the dealer last night.

My JW1*** order has moved up from 12 September to 1st September delivery to the dealer. Dare l start to get excited?:)
 
Mine arrived at dealership today. Long 14 months that. Sadly not able to collect until Sat 18th so is going to be a long long week. Praying no shenanigans prior to me getting the keys if it’s sitting with them for a week! But hopefully the hype about them has died down a bit given that there are so many more around now.

Hello!

What was the original statement for delivery for you? I ordered two weeks ago on Friday and got a quote I would get the car in 2024. Would it be realistic to expect it to come in 2023? :D

August 2021. Then January 2022 then September 2022 and back to now. So not really sure I’m afraid (mine was in the UK). It was all over the place. They do seem to be picking up speed though so it’s not impossible.

They’ll take it for fuel and for a test drive as part of the PDI so don’t get excited when you see on MyT That it’s done 100 hard stops and go’s.

MyT is overly sensitive even trying to pull away in 2nd would likely get a warning 🤣

Also check tyre pressures I think this is the most common thing missed on PDI, tyre pressures for transit are set very high.

Yeah I think my only fear is:

a) it’s my first ever new car and I’d like to try do the running in properly - if I’m going to hold back for 600 miles I hope nobody thrashes it in the meantime otherwise what’s the point (though unsure how big an issue it would be if it’s the odd one off)

b) can you just imagine if somebody took it for a test drive and crashed it on say the day before collection! I do wonder what they’d do given the limited availability!

Thanks re: the pressures, I’ve got a box of bits and pieces to fit when it finally gets home but good to know. Luckily the drive home of 4 hours is showing up as no motorways being fastest but will check them myself when I collect. Going to be a long week next week.

I wouldn’t panic David. All cars seem to be arriving with between 9 and 15 miles on the clock roughly so I don’t think any are getting taken for a thrashing. If the mileage is much more than that, I would ask some questions but would hope those involved in delivery / collection remain professional.

Ultimately, you’ve got 10 years to discover a serious engine issue if you keep it serviced at Toyota!
