GR86 One for all GR86 Owners: PCV Valve

When I took the old one off there was a bit of RTV around the threads. So I just used a bit of PTFE tape.

Also, when I screwed it back in, it doesn't sit full flush with the block...at least it didn't when I had it tight enough that I didn't want to torque it further. Hoping others have found the same, although so far no leaks.

Not sure I would want the risk any of that tape falling down the threaded hole when you come to remove and replace the valve in the future.

Happy to hear others views.
This, although it shouldn't disintegrate, so if you're careful it's not usually a problem

For those who have done this, are any of you putting ptfe or liquid ptfe on the threads or is it simply screw off and fit the new one. Got it to day, £14.03 and they were very good. Even gave some Subaru branded biscuits for the dog.
I did not put any kind of ptfe liquid, also the is only 22nm , but keeping an eye if any oil or residue leaves the area keep an eye for it time to time .

I’d be inclined to use a small amount of Hylomar near the top of the thread.
It’s officially like a vent so there shouldn’t be too much oil get near it.

Amayana got back to me. There's no stock at the supplier, so it's .5 - 1.5 months delay. Then the time it takes to ship it from Japan.

Sigh. It I want to change it anytime soon, looks like I'm going to have to pay Toyota's extortionate rates. I suppose I could save myself £15 quid by going to the nearest Subaru dealer, but it's a 100 mile round trip, which at today's fuel prices means I probably wont make any saving and will take a few hours out of my day.

Honestly, **** Toyota.

Want me to see if my local Subaru dealer can source another one and I can pop it in the post? They only had a couple left last week from central stock.

That's very kind of you, but I've ordered two from Teqsport in the US now. Ordering two works out at about £15 each, so only a quid more than the Subaru dealer anyway. Thanks anyway.

I've ordered a bunch of bolts and fittings off Amayana for my GT and stuck a pcv valve on the order as I'd figure id check it and it'd be cheaper with delivery already paid etc... stuck on "ordered from supplier" FFS...
