GR86 Oil consumption

Due to order some oil for the service. What is everyone using now as there was discussions about upping the weight? I've been happy enough with the Millers 0W-20 but can't find a 0W-30 that meets the spec, only a vague mention of Asian manufacturers.
I'm using 0w20 over winter and change to 05w30 around April/May.

Shamefully I do quite alot of short journeys and being in the South East, lots of stop start traffic so I've stuck with 0w20. If this wasn't the case I'd probably run 5w30.

Got a link to the Motul? The ones I've seen don't meet ILSAC GF-6A. Worst case I stick with the Millers again and do a change in the Summer.
It's API SP not SN however my understanding is SP meets all the requirements of SN and some👍

Not going to make a separate thread about this, but someone in the US has started a class action against Subaru and Toyota for improper engine oil spec, defective oil pickup, and improper RTV use/spec.

Not for the faint of mechanical heart, as naturally the images are from failed engines. To me it reinforces the importance of regular oil changes and keeping up with engine warranty, lest any sneaky RTV actually succeed in bricking the engine.

If that is successful it will just reinforce Subaru and Toyota parting ways on stuff like this from now on since all of it has to do with Subarus engine design and assembly.

Toyotas Super Taikyu GR86 or their recent Rally Legacy Concept at SEMA has already shown that they could have made the car with their own stuff.

Hmm. Maybe time to pop to Halfords and grab a top up bottle.

It's been about 8 months since the car was serviced, so it's not a huge amount of loss. But I was hoping not to have to worry about it at all between services. Nevermind. Maybe I'll check the PCV using the method someone mentioned earlier.
I had my original oil that came with the car changed at ~1400-1500 miles in mid Jan this year, then noticed the oil level had gone down to as shown in the photo above come end of Aug, it had done just shy of 10k miles then. This means the car used some ~700-800ml of oil in just under 8200 miles. So bought 1L of Toyota original 0W-20 oil and gave it about 300 ml. Had my 1st annual service done 3 weeks early in Sep by then it’d done 11k miles. Now nearly 2 months later & at 13k miles and by the dipstick I reckon it used ~200 ml of oil from the top of the dipstick. Normal or not?

Yes this looks normal. These engines do use oil. Best advice is to check the oil regularly say every couple of weeks and keep topped up to the max line (or slightly above). Having owned a couple of BRZs before the GR I found I could sometimes go 5K without any obvious consumption and on other occasions I would see a drop after 500 miles. A regular check is a must IMO.

Think my oil consumption might have slowed since the last service, which was on the 24/10. 3 months and one week later, and just a shade over 2k miles...don't think the level has dropped at all.

That said, it's also been winter so I'm not going in regular hard drives for fun. Will keep an eye on it.
