Car collected today.
As I was driving away there was a tapping sound that increased with the revs which sounded like a playing card in a bicycle's spokes (old 'uns will know all about this). I thought it might have been a flapping panel so I did a 180 and drove back down the road to P&P for them to take a look. After a test drive to demonstrate the noise, the guys got it straight back on the ramps and removed all of the undertrays etc.
Turned out that there was an odd strip of masking tape stuck to the drive shaft which must have been hitting the heat shields as the shaft rotated at speed. Strangely, this noise was transmitted through the chassis and made it sound like it was at the front end!
Lesson learned by all concerned and a 'good spot' by the lads in the workshop.
Glad to have the car back on my driveway. Now all it needs is a wash!

Collected my OEM wheels from Skidz (Falkirk) after having them refurbished in ‘Piano Black’, which is a bit deeper and more shiny than standard ‘gloss black’. Now I just have to find a place to store them until Winter …

I was mindful of the increased wheel width and didn’t want the tyres sticking out past the wheel arch - I estimated that I had 20mm to play with, so the Offset is a conservative 42 (which is 6mm out from the OEM 48). That extra 6mm and the 12.7mm increase in wheel width has the rim protector sitting flush with the upper edges of the rear wheel arches (when measured with a plank of wood). They look wide at the rear though as the back panels taper inwards.
