I don't understand the relevance of that. I'm in driving for fun, and that has a cost, but at some point the sacrifice maybe doesn't outweigh the benefit. As I'm quite knowledgeable on the subject, I like to share my somewhat non-conformist to the generally careless attitude to emission control in popular car culture. Car tailpipe emissions in developed countries like UK and nordics cause ballpark 10x as many premature deaths as traffic accidents. That's significant. And removing a GPF increases particle emissions roughly tenfold. That's not a little delta. Most people don't/won't make the link, but I do.

Now for a hobby car driven infrequent away from populated areas, near forest if you will, it doesn't matter much - as is the case here. But for a daily driven car in upbuilt areas, removing a GPF is imho a bit of a shame when it already was there. That's all.

The relevance I think is we have bigger problems to worry about other than a few car enthusiasts ripping off their GPFs and throwing in the bin.

The world is run by fcuk-up old men. Do you think I care if someone bins their GPF, no I don't.

Both my parents died in Palliative care. You want too why? No course you don't.

I live in a small seaside town; the air is clean here.

Do you think your doing something significate by driving an EV, charging it with solar panels and a home battery?

So, NZ cars don't even come with a GPF, right? Why so provoked?

And as a basic principle of life, yes I believe what each individual does, does matter in the larger whole, but it's not black and white and I'm not judging anyone, just setting the wider context of our hobby.... Quite concerning you singled out me as your source of frustration and rmember my personal details, why do you care so much?

"Michael" also has solar on his roof btw, probably trickle charged his 12V battery at some point... knowing this, will you not like this thread then??

Listen, we are never going to agree so let's call it a day. What you can't understand is when I am joking which is most of the time and when I am not. You provoked when you mention someone dying of cancer and lecture me about GPF removal. Have a nice evening :)
