GR86 GR86 - What wheels and tyres are you thinking about?

I had a set of 18" wheels fully stripped and powder coated bronze for £240inc VAT. If you really want to return to stock you can make them black again before you sell.

I think it would look way better with gunmetal wheels - I even did a mock up here when the first photos of UK cars in SB came out - crude but you get the idea:

Great thanks, yes that does look better than the stock black!

Bit of feedback regarding my setup (18x8.5+45wheels, 245x35 tyre), hope it helps anyone making decisions at the moment.
Album with more pics and video
Im really happy with the fit, if anything i would say its 1 mm to proud. No rubbing at all.
with 1-2degree of camber and it should be my ideal.

! With this setup you won't be able to use camber bolts.
(The space between the spring and tyre is none existent, and camber bolts reduce this distance.)

In future im tempted to try Peddlers offset strut mounts aswell as Subaru STI springs (10mm drop). Will update if i do.

How does it compare handling wise to stock size?

I cant comment i done this immediately, 6months i was staring at the wheels in my dining room :ROFLMAO:

I thought that’s what they looked like, that’s the fitment we offer. As you say, lower it slightly and it would be spot on.

I’m looking to get a set of winter wheels for mine when it arrives later this year. I’m not touching the suspension and want same sized wheels as standard. As close to the standard look as possible. Suggestions welcome!

I’m toying with the idea of getting the black paint on the OEM wheels stripped and either lacquered to give a natural silver look, or more likely getting the paint code for the BRZ gun metal OEM alloys and getting them redone in that colour. As far as I can see the BRZ alloys are identical to the GR alloys. Think the gun metal is a better match for sapphire blue than black. Only concern is with the GR86 being such a rare car if I want to sell in the future are people going to want it completely stock?
Das Baron on Pistonheads has redone his, lighter than gun metal but works well IMO (y)

Looks great, I’m still leaning towards the brz gun metal, but either would be an upgrade over the black wheels.

Guess I'm lucky with a white car, the black stock wheels look great imo. I don't like the centre caps though, so just wrapped them in black gloss, so it all looks like one black wheel.

Yeah there’s a couple of really great pics of recently collected white cars and they look so good with the black wheels- kind of minimal, which I hadn’t clocked before…

Personally, I really don't like that... the silver posted earlier is nicer than gun metal. But as always its personal preference.
Yes, I have seen the one everydaydriver has with gold ultraleggeras and that doesn't look half bad
I played in the ps4 a bit and this are the oem one in silver with black roof and colour coded wing mirror

When I took the rear wheel off, I noticed this funny bit of bent metal attached to one of the arms. What do you think it does?

I tried a quick test fitting of my 16x7 Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 wheels and brake clearance is fine front and rear. They are ET35-38, can't remember exactly, but sit ok in the arches.

That's why I put smaller than OEM Pro Race 1.2 on my focus as they're known for good caliper clearances 👍

For the price of them (and the relative lightness) I think they're brillant.
